Steven Gerrard's unique Rangers cloud nine

 Article by: Richard

With 21-year-old, 6’ 4” pacey striker Umar Sadiq who arrived in Glasgow late on Monday night to become Steven Gerrard’s ninth signing, he may not be the last – Stevie Ger has been immensely busy this transfer window – Ibrox Noise takes you through each signing in turn so far:

22-year-old, 6’ tall versatile midfielder Lassana Coulibaly signed a 1-year-loan-deal on Tuesday 10 July, to develop his game under Gerrard’s guidance and is his eighth new signing. After thinking the call from Rangers’ manager was a prank, the ex-Bastia man was eager to join once he knew it real.

Meanwhile 21-year-old, 6’ 4” Croatian centre half Nikola Katić cost £2m and was outstanding in his debut and scored a-long-ranged goal from 25-yards-out. Nikola and fellow signing Connor Goldson look like a top defensive partnership.

As for the former Brighton man, 25-year-old, 6’ 3” English centre half Goldson signed for £3million from EPL side Brighton, and looks to be a potentially fabulous addition to Stevie G’s Rangers revolution.

Moving onto 20-year-old, 6’ 1” attacking midfielder Ovie Ejaria is now ours for 12 months. The season-loan midfield maestro was born in London to Nigerian parents and can choose between playing for England or Nigeria when he is more experienced.

25-year-old, 5’ 11” right or left back Jon Flanagan can also play in a back three situation and looks to be another top class ex-Liverpool player who will blossom under Stevie G at Ibrox.

28-year-old, 5’ 10” winger Jamie Murphy was permanently signed from Brighton for around £600,000, after becoming a successful loan deal last season.

29-year-old, 5’ 10” midfielder Scott Arfield made a great start to his Rangers career. The Bosman signing scored twice and was awarded the MOTM against Bury on his Ibrox debut last Friday.

36-year-old, 6’ 1” goalkeeper Allan McGregor was brought back to the ‘Gers on a free transfer after a sensational Player of the Year season at Hull City last campaign.

All these players for around £6m in transfer fee outlay which is sensational business, and all down to the hard work of Mark Allen and Steven Gerrard.

Who will be the 10th signing and when? Watch this space!

  1. Would be interesting to see who is shipped out now. Suprised Foderingham on euro squad list and Hodgson. No place in red white and blue. Other than that happy days ahead, looking like a quality team at last.

  3. Excellent business. One more central defender and one more striker and we are there I think. Pleased to see we are signing taller, stronger players. Sick of watching the likes of Holt, Halliday & Windass being pushed around.
