Major doubts surface over two transfer deals at Ibrox

Rangers’ summer window continues unabashed, but over the past two days, significant doubts about the movements of two players has punctuated transfer activity.

In recent days it had been widely reported that midfielder Greg Docherty was to leave on loan, much to the displeasure of the majority of the Rangers fanbase. English League One Sunderland appeared to be the destination, but former St Mirren boss Jack Ross, now manager at the Stadium of Light, has suggested he has no interest in the former Hamilton man, claiming other positions are a ‘priority’. He has reportedly stopped short of outright denying it, only ‘playing it down’ to the Sunderland Echo rather than explicitly rejecting.

Meanwhile the saga for Millwall’s Jake Cooper has received a huge dent to Rangers with the latest news being Rangers’ reported fourth bid apparently rejected for the 23-year old stopper and the Lions’ abject refusal to entertain any bids for him. Sky Sources report Millwall are under no pressure or obligation to sell the defender, and simply have no desire to do so. In short, he is a player they wish to retain, and short of an absolutely massive ‘offer they can’t refuse’, Jake Cooper will not be joining Rangers under pretty much any circumstances.

Of course, if the player himself wishes to join Rangers, then a transfer request would be the obvious solution, but to date, he himself has shown no obvious interest in leaving Millwall and is contracted to them for another two years.

However, in (marginally) better news Liverpool winger Ryan Kent is due to have a medical today and complete his loan switch to Ibrox. Likely a contingency plan to failing to secure Harry Wilson, winger Kent will give Steven Gerrard further options for the flanks, and being bi-footed can be deployed on either side.

  1. Rather than Make all that Effort to Not Sign Cooper! 😬
…We should have put More Effort into Signing Bartley!

Gutted Neither of them will be coming to Govan!

…And I aint exactly excited by signing this Lad Kent 😒👎⚽

    • Your encyclopaedic knowledge of football has always impressesed me Stevo! lol if you spent more time watching football than emojis then you'd know how good Kent is

    • I Acc Watch a Lot of Football So Thanks Mate 👍
And btw it is only an opinion so get over yourself

    • You will find only Bible Johns opinions count, he slags off everybody that doesn't agree with him, Rangers should've appointed him manager for the season ahead, he seems to know everything…….

  2. From what I've seen, at his best, Kent is better than Wilson. If he can gain some consistency he could run riot up here. He is fast, full of tricks and can beat players in numerous ways. He is completely two footed and his end delivery, passes, crosses and shooting is getting better. He can also play through the middle. I see him going straight into the team. For certain games I can see him on the right and Middleton on the left terrorising defences. However for that to happen we need a strong midfield and Tavernier to rein in his attacking. It may also mean Flanagan staying at LB. Either way this kid will put bums on seats believe me.

    • I'd rather this kid got supporters off their seats cheering! I hope he is successful here and watching his highlights he looks like he could be. Wingers are inconsistent like Ted McMinn. I would much rather see Danny Ings arrive from liverpool or a Defoe type player who will ease the pressure off of the young players and give a goal a game. At this point, with no veteran striker looking set to arrive we might as well bring back Kris Boyd (hahaha). Good luck Ryan Kent. I hope you can play fitbaw like ur uncle Clark 😉

  3. Im keen to see Kent in action, he looks like a nightmare to defend against. Sounds like Liverpool dont let youngsters go on loan without guarantees of game time. I think he'll be a starter tbh

  4. ovie's started ok so lets give kent a chance people.

docherty can go to livy or hamilton.

    allez les bleus!
