Has Rangers star just taken a BIG dig at the fans?

Josh Windass has posted a questionable tweet to apparently departing Fabio Cardoso, informing his possibly soon-to-be ex team mate that the best way to ‘prove them wrong’ is to play well.

Feasibly a jibe at both Rangers fans and our managers, Josh hasn’t always been the most popular or wisest indeed when it comes to public comments, and this comment has been interpreted by some as a dig at managers who didn’t rate him or fans who have criticised him.

Whether he has the right to this opinion is another matter, judge for yourselves whether his comment is fair:

Windass is subject to intense transfer speculation at present, with a bunch of English clubs in a battle for his signature; manager Steven Gerrard dropped him for the trip to Croatia, and he certainly didn’t look ‘up for it’ when he came on in the second half.

Whether this tweet is further ammo for his detractors time will tell, but it’s safe to say our Josh is likely to court controversy whatever he does.

  1. He should zip it… In fact there should be a blanket ban on all media outlets and let's start wae that ******* constant embarrassment level 5 lot.

  2. Can't remember him ever proving anyone wrong. I liked Cardoso and still think there is a player in there bit wish him well for the future. Windass does my head in both on and off the pitch.

  3. The sooner this wee shite leaves our club the better. In his head he's the next messi in reality hes a hide and seek champion. In his head he's the victim in reality our club is the victim having to play 85% of a game when he disappears.

I'd take 3m for him in a heartbeat. We could bring in Steve Davis for half of that, more talented and more dedicated to the cause and can nuture the next generation for a couple of seasons.

  4. No wonder he is having a dig back, the abuse from so called fans is a disgrace.

If you can't support the players when they play playing stay away from the games – because giving players hard time is not going to make them play better.

Most the abuse is from sad and bitter jealous losers, angry at their own miserable existence.

Same goes for all the clowns singing sectarian songs that embarrass every decent rangers fan.

    • Well said mate. You are 100% right. We are the most critical fans in the world. And arises think this is a virtue…. Windass is perfectly entitled to his view as are, unfortunately, some of the clowns on here!

    • Agreed, the abuse is OTT, no wonder all these players go for pennies. Cardoso never had a run in the team long enough to show if he had potential, but Windass has, and yet our fellow fans ignore all his goals and assists… when he proves people wrong! Windass has the potential to be a good player for us especially in this new team and worth more than a paltry 3 Million.
Support our Players and stop criticising them!

    • Nicely said. Same fans drive Charlie Adam out only to see him leave for a fraction of his value then move for big money down south. The more we denigrate our own players, the more we devalue our club. Leave the abuse to those on the outside. Windass is just a scapegoat for a poor team, not the worst player by far (see stats). Embarrassing hearing and reading the abuse he gets.

  5. The guy just doesn't like being criticised, and the fact that he earns a good living playing for the most successful club in the world I believe that he needs to grow up and realise its part n parcel of being a footballer at any club and not just us when there's criticism from supporters… watp helicopter 2005

As for him being linked away I would cash in and put towards getting cooper from Millwall if possible….

  6. Give me a break. Windass has wished a mate good luck and told him to go prove people wrong. It's just a saying. He's not having a dig at anyone. Why don't the fans stop having a dig at Windass and give him support. He scored plenty for us last season while playing out of position for most of it. I suspect if he scored 20 goals for us he'd still get pelters. Yet most would happily spend good money to bring back Lafferty hoping that he could maybe do the same.

    • Spot on. Snowflakes jumping on good luck tweets, get a life. As frustrating as windass is, who'd have scored all those goals he hit last season?
As for Steve Davis, Lafferty suggestions? Will we get DJ back on the turf too now he's back on the payroll?

    • My first thoughts too Rob, yes he's 'got attitude issues' but he said what any decent bloke would say to a mate who's just been rejected, even if they are crap! Wasn't digging at anyone imo…and as you said, out of position & getting how many goals? How many assists? Far superior and a more clinical finisher than wee Freddie, and by all accounts the 'Best' in training…that said, Wee Freddie has a stinking attitude as well. I'd take Laff on board though, I'm happy to forgive and forget (on this one) for the greater cause, Our Club. Just thinking about Laff and Sadiq being on the end of Tav's crosses gives me a wee twitch, and not the nervous sphincter type twitch the defending team will be experiencing!…Aye…he damage he/they/we, could do.

    • Absolutely 100% correct. Rangers have dumped Cardoso because we say he's not good enough. Windass has told him to go and try to prove us wrong. Where is the problem? He is offering support to a team mate, why shouldn't he? Some people on here need to think a bit more before spouting off.

  7. I want rid of Windass. He's all flash and no goals in net, that fella. He charges straight through the middle every time and never raises his head to look for a team mate, in a better position. He's a ball-greedy, glory hunter. Pity Windass, hasn't proved us bears WERONG by banging in goal after goal, eh. Time, Windass hit the road.

  8. Tend to agree with ROBROB57 Is there actually anything wrong with that he said? Cardoso looks like being punted because SG and his management team don’t fancy him so of course he has to move on and “prove them wrong”. Need to lighten up

  9. Windass has every right to have a go at us "fans". In all honesty, I've never known such a critical bunch of fans ready to jump on any and every mistake a player makes as much as ours. Sometimes it's a disgrace the amount of abuse levelled at the players by "fans" on this and other sites. Where would we have finished last season if you take Windas's goals out of the mix?

  10. I don't see a problem with his comment as such, but I see a problem with him as a player. He got a lot of goals last season so have to give him credit where credit is due. But the fact is he can't pass, he can't dribble, he can't tackle, he says more on twitter than he seems to on the park, his tracking back is absymal, and on the rare occasion he does track back he doesn't tackle…Lower league player and a million miles away from what we need to get to a new level!

  11. He's entitled to have his opinion just like anyone else,he is correct if your getting stick then bang in a couple of goals that shut them up,🥅
But when is windass gonna do that🤔⏱

    LETS GO WATP 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

  12. There's nothing better than a player proving people wrong it's what fans admire in certain players but Imo winds has proved nobody wrong! The words flatter to deceive come to mind.

  13. Prove us wrong then ya useless c#*t. You’ve got a first touch like a midwife. Boy Middleton showed u up when he came on

  14. Time to polish those specs Joe90. "no goals in net…"? – just the 18 last season from midfield you tube..

  15. I totally agree with ROBROB57 & GMan because there is nothing wrong with what Josh said about his team mate Cardoso. He was more or less saying goodbye in an nice way.

I can't believe the outrageous criticism Josh gets from far too many Rangers supporters, as he scored 18 goals last season, despite being played out of position for most of the games.

Cardoso has to move on to save his career, but I don't think he is rotten. He is certainly not good enough for a team the calibre of Rangers.

Would Hearts swap Cardoso for Lafferty, which is probably their standard of player?

  16. Too many fans are happy to shout abuse at players then get pissy when they have an opinion about it… some fans are morons at times thats just Scottish football unfortunately.

  17. Just Need to Sell Him!
Needs to get his act Together

    1. He Thinks Hes Messi
    2. He's Pish
    3. He Doesnt work for the Team
    4. Hes Greedy
    5. His "Disappearing" acts in every match he plays

Juat get Rid! Dont need him anyway

All these fans kissing his ass and saying he was just wishing his mate luck or whatever …bigger Picture!

  18. I have watched the gers for years, and the fans have been quick to criticise certain players. Big dave mcpherson was a prime example. Whether you like him as a footballer is your decision, but the big fella gave everything he could. He didn't ask to play, the manager picked him. Criticising the guy makes him try harder, get tensed up and his performance suffers. It's a vicious circle. Whatever team the manager puts on the park, support them all the way.
