I don’t agree it’s about wining or revenge for the last fixture against them. It’s all about learning the new style, formation, players getting familiar with others and of course the opportunity for players to stake claims and impress the new management team. It’s a friendly behind closed doors and a step in the process to get us up to the level demanded. No more, no less. Victory is unimportant.
Let's not read too much into pre season friendlies, or for that matter early season results. This is a massive rebuilding job Stevie G has undertaken and he must be given the time and space to do his work. Undoubtably some of the signings will work and some won't but the least we expect is desire, effort and pride in the blue shirt. I'm confident Gerrard will succeed but it may not be this season. Let's stick with him and the team and give them every support.
