PHOTO – Stevie Ger and Jordan Rossiter…

Ibrox Noise regulars will remember this piece which discussed manager Steven Gerrard’s man-management skills and apparent decision to consider Josh Windass an important part of his team.

Well, at the training camp in Malaga, this photo shows similar importance and one-on-one coaching with a player we rate very highly at ‘The Noise’.

Jordan Rossiter has shown ‘promise’ for the past four years. The 21-year old midfielder was signed as the ‘new Steven Gerrard’ but with a few injury concerns.

Alas 10 appearances in his first two seasons rather summed up his injury blight – when he gained fitness along with Niko Kranjcar last summer it looked like Rangers finally had two valuable assets back.

Naturally, it didn’t work out that way – Kranjcar ended up a disaster of a player, while Rossiter’s fitness remained fragile as glass.

So here we are present day, but there does seem something different this time. Rossiter is heavily involved in training, and has confirmed he’s been fit since February – just not in favour – but his new manager, his idol could well be the one to get the Rossiter we know he can be out.

And if the image above is anything to go by, Gerrard is doing much the same with Rossiter as he did with Windass and has with a bunch of the squad members – blending one-on-one nurturing with group management.

He’s a manager who seems to be earning these guys’ trust, given they already respect him – but looking up to a manager is not the same thing as investing your trust in him, and given what we’re seeing at training, it appears Gerrard is ticking both boxes.

Long may it continue.

  1. I sense a great ambience streaming out from Rangers squad just now, there appears to be a positive atmosphere from all the players, hope this materialises into good early season performances. Every player must be bursting a gut to impress. Looks like SG won't tolerate chancers and this will bode well for dressing room attitude, which will follow onto pitch. At last after couple of years of 'we will learn from this and move on' and ' the dogs bark but the caravan doesn't stop' we NOW appear to have a manager who looks like he is focused. Mon the Gers!

  2. I always said, when Rossiter comes back from injury, he better show his worth. Wow, when I saw him play hibs in that mental game, he proved to me he was a player worth keeping. I'd go further and say he's better, than Windass in that he's more of a team player, which Windass is not (glory-seeker). If he can stay healthy and cope with the physicality of the Scottish game, I think he'll go far.

  3. Can I commentitled on a different subject sorry noto very good with technology
I was interested in Gerrard comments that the team did not appear fit something I have questioned over the last year's.
And given that does anyone have an opinion on Penarth given what we now know about his lifestyle and fitness yet he still scored 5 goals in 8 appearances from midfield maybe if he gets his act together he could actually be anice accomplished player for us just my thoughts

  4. I’ll believe he’s back when he’s played 10 games on the trot.

It’s training pics of Andy Halliday that perplexes me. Utter dross and has been already sent out on loan to the back of beyond, been told he’s surplus once again yet he’s in Spain whilst his pal Holt has accepted and moved on. Got some neck on him. Time for Stevie G to pap him in with the boys until he gets the message. Imposter.

  5. Rossiter looks to me similar in style to Barry Ferguson. I just worry his body isnt up to football in general. Ive been dying to see him fit cos I reckon he'll eventually be first name on the team sheet.
