Gerrard makes move for 22-year old striker – journalist

STV’s Raman Bhardwaj has tonight claimed Steven Gerrard and Rangers are firmly interested in Nottingham Forest’s Jason Cummings, but that the two parties remain divided on an agreed fee.

Cummings returned to the City Ground some weeks ago following the end of his loan spell, but made it clear he wanted to remain at Ibrox – it seems, according to Bhardwaj’s information, that the striker did enough to impress new manager Steven Gerrard and the 38-year old Rangers boss wants the player in Govan.

However, Forest have been long speculated as wanting at least £1,000,000 for the 22-year old while Rangers are said to want him for less.

Forest boss Aitor Karanka has been scathing of Cummings, misguidedly or otherwise, but the Scotland striker did ingratiation into his parent club no favours by making it clear he didn’t want to be there and did want to remain in Scotland.

And it seems the former Hibs man has put his eggs into the Gerrard basket in hopes the two clubs can finally reach an agreement for him.

This one could yet run for some time.

  1. I thought we had a 600k fee agreed. If so put it on the table and take it out of Forrest’s hands…

  2. Again the fans are divided on this one, im all for it, hope we bring cumdog back home and forget every bit of interest in Oli

  3. Jason cummings imo, didn't get a proper chance at rangers and our system under murty & then Jimmy nicholl, didn suit him.Cummings is still young and plenty of scope to improve. He's a very good finisher and in a partnership up top, will score a lot of goals for us! If gerrard wants to sign cummings permanently, then i'm also all for it.We should sign cummings permanently imo! It has the potential to be a terrific piece of business.Jason cummings has the natural goalscoring natural instincts, to become a glasgow rangers legend.

  4. To be honest, much as I like Cummings, Hardie's record us just as good and he's free. So why not take Berahino on a years loan, with an option to buy if possible, then sign McBurnie on a pre-contract in January?
    Cheaper, just as good

  5. Hope this deal happens cummings still has a lot to improve and Gerrard can make him a better player

  6. Id take cummings but I think he can still improve all aspects of his game and Gerrard can help him, hope the deal gets done.

  7. Ibrox Noise what’s your view on the fact Morelos is seen as a major part in the Rangers Team for this season?

As for Cummings I’d take him to play alongside the Buffalo but only as a two prong strikeforce.. Cummings doesn’t have the hold up play so can’t play as lone striker like the Buffalo does..

The Gaffer is defo after more firepower and I for one am one happy Bear that Hardie got an extension. Mr Gerrard thinks he’s worth a shot then 👌

  8. Think i disagree got Hardie who should get a bit of game time next season we need someone ready to bang the goals in against the top teams and in europe i would go for berahino. Why would we settle for a striker who couldnt make at champoinship level we need better.

  9. Forest made it clear that they don't want Cummings, Forest paid £1m for cumdog and want the full boona back? that's taking the proverbial and sooner rather than later their valuation has to become realistic for Rangers to buy.
Personally I think the deal will be done by this Friday so cumdog can get some training in with the squad in Spain.

  10. Can't perform anywhere else other than Scottish football, therefore I'm surprised Forest value him that highly.

  11. YESSS!
    Delighted with This,

    Huge Fan of Cummings,
    Bags of Potential and
    a Lethal Scottish Finisher 😃👊⚽💙

    1. Keep Morelos unless we get a Silly Offer 🤔💰💰💰

    2. Sign Cummings & McBurnie

…Best Pals/Both Bluenoses and would Score for Fun under Stevie G!

  12. ÄŽon,t want Cummings he's not good enough get in strikers who are hungry to prove that they have what it takes to take us where we want to be not somebody who isn't even wanted by parent club especially at million pound ransom we have started to look the business by the new signings so let's not go for someone who's no good on his own up front big target man needed with morellos and attacking midfielders let's go for any team we face and say we are rangers what have you got to stop us

  13. If we sign players like Cummings and get rid of Escobar.
    Just hand them 10iar.
Deary Me he's bang average at best, Pena scored more than Cummings FFS!!!

  14. Just a small correction to an earlier entry. I think it should have read "lethal Scottish Championship finisher".

  15. Rangers have been drawn against FK Shkupi of Macedonia in the Europa League first qualifying round.

The first leg, which will take place at Ibrox on July 12, will be Steven Gerrard's first competitive match as Rangers manager.

  16. I hope Cummings goes to Rangers, he isn’t good enough for the championship in England and I believe a step down to either league 1 or the Scottish Prem will do him some good. I don’t think Forest will get what they paid for him but to recoup 75% will be something
