Could Steven Gerrard destroy the SPL with these two?

While the Jason Cummings story
still hasn’t quite gone away yet, nevertheless with Steven Gerrard and Mark
Allen close to a fine loan signing of Roma’s Umar Sadiq, we must admit here at
Ibrox Noise that the prospect of he and Alfredo Morelos up front really does
whet the appetite.
If we forego the negatives around
the Colombian, and focus only on his qualities, his finishing when on form, his
hold up play, his winning of fouls, his aerial strength and his ‘nuisance’
factor upon defences makes him a real asset.
Meanwhile Sadiq is a very
different striker – tall at 6ft 4, this massive lad has quality on the ball,
impressive composure for his height, aerial domination, reading of space in the
opposition box, and sheer burst pace – making him quite a decent foil for Morelos.
Both are powerful, but they use
their power in very different ways – Sadiq is more technically gifted than
Morelos, while the Colombian will do much of the graft up front.
It is a potential partnership,
should it happen, that could cause all manner of problems for defences in the
SPL.
Rangers haven’t used a decent
partnership in Scottish football since the days of Steven Naismith and Nikica
Jelavic – it is obviously unclear if these two can match up, but time will
tell.
My colleague Richard will have a
more in-depth piece on Sadiq later today, and of course the striker is still to
be confirmed, but it does seem if all is pure and holy that Rangers will have a
strikeforce aged a combined total of only 42 years next season.
One that really has some great
potential – we look very much forward to it.

  1. Morelos hasn't exactly made it a secret of wanting to play elsewhere and earn more money, I hope he stays but don't be surprised if his agent gets him outa here but if he does stay l agree it would be a great partnership with Sadiq

  2. Sadiq doesn't seem to be a striker. Alright he scored 5 in 12 games on loan in Holland but it 2 loan spells before that he scored 1 goal.
We need proven players not youth players.

  3. We don't really have any evidence that Sadiq could destroy his tea, so let's not get too carried away yet shall we. However, there's a couple of lads who have proven they can score in the SPL and I think they could tear the place up in the new season with some decent new players backing them. You've probably not come across them – Windass and Morelos. Keep an eye on them…….
