Derek McInnes reveals his true feelings on Steven Gerrard

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has made a very enlightening admission about new manager Steven Gerrard in the hours leading up to Rangers’ trip to Pittodrie.

The Dons’ chief, who of course changed his mind about a switch to Ibrox in the eleventh hour last year, was speaking about how the optimism in Govan has completely turned around since the unveiling of the Anfield legend last week, and made a slight slip of the tongue or Freudian admission about how he really feels about the new boss of Rangers:

“Thank God he’s not playing (tonight) and thank God he isn’t in the dugout.”

It’s the first time someone high up in Scottish football has revealed their true feelings about Rangers securing such a legend, and how much they fear the potential impact a man the calibre of Gerrard will have.

Naturally Aberdeen are facing off against Rangers for second, in a match tonight which could define a few things, but McInnes is clearly more than wary for next season of a rejuvenated Rangers under the influence of the ex-England captain.

  4. There is a lot of truth in Kings words, next season is not just down to Rangers. Hibs, Kilmarnock and Hearts are stronger and will strengthen. Aberdeen need a player overhaul. Celtic pay big wages based on CL money, they attract players because of guaranteed CL. Scottish football has been given the biggest financial boost by Gerrards appointment, the guy has brought financial gains for all clubs and world wide focus. We get our house in order, maybe noisey neighours will do their job 😊

  5. McInnes is a loser ..he knows he will be an also ran next season tonight we should have beaten that pish…ref a disgrace Never a penalty …LETSGO BRING IT ON

  6. It's actually not a bad point, we've been linked with 37 year old Gareth Barry, I'd much rather Gerrard pulled the boots back on. Souness did it why not Gerrard.

  7. Better add Lemon to the list hes running for the hills he know whats coming 😂

    Lets go!🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
