Is Graeme Murty set to make controversial decision?

The story of Kenny Miller’s return has broken.

Having completely overlooked him in our upcoming piece on the team to face Thistle, we must admit deep concern that manager Graeme Murty has confirmed Kenny is not only in the squad for the trip, but is extremely likely to be involved.

We were full of nothing but praise for Miller last season – he was clearly Rangers’ best player, and deserve all plaudits that came his way.

But this season ‘diabolical’ has not covered how poor he has been, even if some fans will continue to back him citing his ‘work ethic and covering for midfield’ tendencies.

And most supporters are equally unlikely to be enamoured that the moment Miller gets fit, he seems to return to the squad and first team without earning his place back there.

Murty has spoken of how the new recruits have to ‘earn’ their place in the team – albeit without exactly practising that philosophy consistently; yet a player who has been out for months will stroll back into the squad and likely play a part in the match?

We have been willing to give Murty a little credit of late, with so many wins since the Killie debacle. But the Hibs reverse, the manager’s comments, and now the possibility that Miller will saunter back into the XI, and likely take the captain’s armband in all honesty, really does not inspire confidence anywhere.

It is true that Morelos’ form/attitude is not the best right now, and Cummings is yet to fully settle in, while Herrera is hardly anything like an answer – and yet Miller’s return to supplement all this fills more fans with dread than anything else.

We will be absolutely fascinated to see how this one plays out.

  1. Morelos is top scorer in the SPL and that should be appreciated, but in this Rangers side which creates many chances he surely should have scored a lot more, then we factor in his "touch"and the ball is bouncing off him every way,his goals to chances ratio is poor and lets not be so quick to condemn Kenny who has proved himself over a period and can link the play better (as can Cummings ! ) Now Morelos has a lot to offer to the side but to describe him as a raw talent is being kind to him.

  2. Honestly why's everyone saying Morelos's form and attitude has changed??
What a load of pish that Is, he's miles in front of anyone in our frontline, WTF do U think someone's offering 8M for his services???
If Murty starts Miller or even puts him on the bench he's 110% not the man for the job, Miller's finished simple as, would rather Middleton was on the bench.
In fact I would rip Miller's contract up and chase him, we all know he was the mole, far to much to say.
Fuk him off Murty he won't get away with what he did to the last manager with U, we won't allow it.

    • Not very often I agree with you Robbie this time I do. Morelos is getting it tight from all angles he’s the top scorer in the league ffs.. Some have very short memories on here Coisty missed more than he scored too fact ( legend end of ).

Kenny ain’t the player he was though good for squad or sub appearances but not starting. I agree I’d rather see Middleton or Brunt in the Team as they’re the future hero’s 🔴⚪️🔵

    • It's sad but miller is done now. And I don't think there is a snowflakes chance in hell he will be offered a new contract

  3. There is no way Miller will play as a striker, but there is a good argument for him taking the number 10 role. Windass is pish as a number 10. That position needs the best decision-maker on the park and Windass is one of the poorest.

    • Simon.
Spot on Nr-10 has to be the sharpest tool in the box.
But Windass or Miller certainly don't have that in there locker.
Murphy or Middleton behind Escobar would be exiting to watch.
