Sky Sports Italy; “negotiations for transfer underway”

Sky Sports Italia claim negotiations are well and truly underway for Bruno Alves’ transfer from Rangers to Benevento.

The story broke over the past 24 that the Serie A strugglers were heavily linked with taking the 36-year old veteran back to the Mediterranean but now it appears that story has stepped up a level with, reportedly, negotiations between his representatives, Rangers and the relegation-threatened side.

The report claims:

“The joy of having secured Sandro officially remains and Benevento want to continue to prepare the team for safety. They are opting for a defender with a recent spell in Italy in Bruno Alves, who played in the 2016/17 season for Cagliari. In the player’s resume, however, there are also many prestigious appearances in Europe, such as for Porto, Zenit St. Petersburg and Fenerbahce. After his time in Sardinia, Alves signed a contract with Scottish side Rangers. Benevento management has made contact with the Scottish club to understand if there are conditions for a transfer, with the hope of being able to deal also on the player’s desire to return to Italy only a few months after his last Serie A match.”

Alves has not said publicly this window that he is happy to remain, but media reports have claimed it without any direct quotes from the player. The claim is he is happy to remain and hold down a Russia 2018 slot.

But we shall see.

  1. We all expected this expensive "superstar" to come in, be first name on the team sheet, galvanise us and help close the gap. Massive disappointment! Any opportunity to get him off the wage bill must be accepted without hesitation.

  2. Oh please let's hope this is true ..he has never been fully committed…not the player he once was..so yes please goodbye !!!!
