Significant development in Rangers’ pursuit of Hamilton’s Docherty

Hamilton Accies have just given Rangers the biggest go ahead to secure prize asset Greg Docherty with the signature of a replacement defensive midfielder in the form of Greek engine room man Chrysovalantis Kozoronis.

Rangers have been linked to rising star Docherty now for a week and despite Neil Warnock’s Cardiff sniffing around the Hamilton anchor, Rangers appear to be first in line to secure his signature – and now with Martin Canning bringing in a replacement, it is the clearest sign yet that the Accies are ready to do business with Rangers (or indeed anyone else) for their star player.

The only concern with Warnock’s reported interest is Rangers simply do not have the finances to entertain a serious bidding war, so it would have to take some desire on the player’s part to make the switch to Ibrox rather than the upheaval of a move down south.

We will see how this story unfolds.
