Rangers to make bid for long-term transfer target?

Hot on the heels of the captures of Sean Goss and Jamie Murphy are the reports this morning that Rangers are set to supplement their striking options hugely with a significant bid for Nottingham Forest’s Jason Cummings.

The 22-year old forward has been linked with Rangers for a considerable period of time, and ex-manager Mark Warburton was a big admirer of his during his Hibernian days hence taking him to the City Ground when he became Forest boss.

While his time in England has not really worked out as well as he would liked, Cummings’ stock in Scotland remains pretty high and while there were claims he had actually been offered as a loan deal to various Scottish clubs, Rangers’ interest this morning has apparently escalated that to a potential seven-figure sum permanent signing.

It would be a fine capture for Rangers to make, with definite quality being needed to partner Alfredo Morelos up front, who is currently Rangers’ only real recognised and reliable striker.

  1. Forest pay £1million he's a flop and we are paying £1million
Pena £2.2 million and we are paying someone to take him ?
How long can this go on

    • Get Cummings in it would b in my opinion a very good move at not to much of a gamble. Also like the sound of Devanty Cole……..A don't know about u guys but Murty to me seems to be saying and doing all the right things so far ????? Darren graves a don't believe we are paying anyone to take Pena from us but a do believe they are paying half his wages so anything that gets that useless waste of space away from ibrox is good business……onwards and upwards WATP🇬🇧🇬🇧

    • Not for long. But we must offload current wage earners who are doing nothing. Board have been generous to managers so we can’t complain but it must stop. Generally I would not give contracts for more than 2 years and would ensure that over 30s got one year at a time.If we make top 2 we must strengthen in summer to make Europe. At present we are paying high wages for Wallace , Dorrans, Rossitter, possibly Alves, who are not going to kick a ball for us. Add to that Pena and any others we have let go but are subbing. It’s a lot of money for non players. Warburton and Pedro have let board down. Getting a new manager is not easy. Getting financial stability comes first. By summer I expect loans to be converted to shares and we can go to market in a stronger position especially if we get into Europe.

    • If true (and is an if) we are still paying half Pena wage then we have been taken for a bunch of mugs.

The Murphy loan shows there is no cash and Brighton don't trust our board to honour the deal. Fact they did credit check is an absolute embarrassment.

Facts some in our support either overlook or don't understand.

People celebrating return of Halliday and MOH are also forgetting that these two players have already proven they aren't good enough.

Halliday was excellent in championship but is a below average spl level player. Would he get a game for most spl sides, probably not.

Moh is a good player for st johnston as there whole attack is based around him. For us he has done nothing as he is played mainly as a winger due to his pace, unfortunately he has very poor crossing and no end product.

I will never boo the team (like plenty do) and always support the players when playing. But I'm not blind to the obvious realities.

    • Fact they did a credit check??
How did they do that through Experia??.
No money so if we spend 2m in this window we got a payday loan??.

Hope Brighton don't go down or they will sell there high earners take the parachute money and recall Murphy!!

    • Robbie no they don't use experia.

They likely use their own accountancy firm or a specialist credit rating company such as Moody's or standard and poorer.

Experia and clearscore use them too as they are not credit checkers but companies that act as middle men.

I would suggest that the deal is structured so fee is paid when season ticket money can be used to pay the fee, minus the add ons.

I would hope deal is not dependant upon Brighton fate, but is possible.

    • From the reports I’ve seen rangers have already paid the money for murphey. It’s more to do with the fact that he will be getting less money with rangers so Brighton are paying the rest and then he takes a wage cut in te summer

  2. Love the Murphy signing he'll be massive for us, he's Rangers mad and will die for the club.
Can't wait to see Goss even if it's only for 5 months, only way we will get to keep him is if QPR get relegated.
Hope we don't go nowhere near Cummings, never rated him and the Rangers jersey will be way to heavy for him, hope Mark Allan has a much better option than him up his sleeve. wouldn't take much mind!!

  3. Don’t grumble ma man, we get him for a mill, take at any day of the week… come on now wede gladly pay someone to get him tae fk

  4. Where is the money coming from Brighton pulled the plug on Jamie Murphy's permanent deal because no money was being put forward.
Have they asked forest to wait till season ticket money comes in before they pay them.
You have no money and owe your directors millions which king promised them they would get it back, unfortunately for king Scottish lawyers and judges seen he was glib and sham

    • Hi Brian,

We at Ibrox Noise must thank you for your continued interest (obsession) with all things Rangers and our side and website. It isn't often a Celtic fan comes on our site and makes around 100 comments, none of which get approved, and still keeps at it. You are the very definition of 'obsession' and we thought we'd approve this one to let the world know that you really need some sort of help. Find something better to do with your time, because this is the only comment you'll ever get through.

      Regards x

    • I fuk off Brian it's the first Sunday of the year, Woop Woop Bath Nite!!🚱🚱🚱
Ps. That money under the soap"s UR Ma's rent money 🔴⚪🔵

    • Well done ibrox noise for highlighting this obsession 😂

      Sounds like someone is worried…
"Wait, I thought Rangers had no money, now they are spending even more. Time to post on their forums to create an idea that the board are skint and no good"

Get over it Brian. Just accept that we are on our way back. Our board is investing towards our future. Yes they will make mistakes, but they will get us back.

We are no longer worried about cheap stadium naming rights, no money through strip sales, historic items being sold for cash (i.e. arsenal shares, car park, buildings, etc.).
Now we question the board for staff recruitment, PR, etc. And the board have made mistakes here, but they have the best intentions.

Let's get behind the team. Trust the board (and YES do question them when needed – we need clarity). And be positive. As big Marv says… keep believing.

  5. Your right Darren how long can the mismanagement go on at Ibrox paying a team to take Pena can't afford to buy outright Murphy and wages mentioned that Alves and others are on that don't contribute on the field get rid of them all and I include rossiter in that what a waste he is offload the highest earners first who don't play for jersey up the wages for the ones who play for us rangers first

  6. Hello Brian, FUCK OFF BRIAN!! You getting scared now with all the changes that are happening down Ibrox way? Worry about your own mob.

  7. I don't mind Cummings but would want a loan deal to start with. If he comes back North, his wages are going to reduce and I'd like to see if he can do it at SPL level. He probably can but what has his move South done for his confidence?

  8. “Cummings” ffs that wee ned will bring nothing but grief to our club. Billy big time attitude & nightlub headlines is all we will get for our money. We’re still trying to get rid of warbs duds & people want us to sign another one.
The guy we have to sign urgently is jones from killie before norwich get him. How about a swop moh + hodson for jones ?

    • Agree with you about Cummings.

I Think an urgent signing should be Docherty from Accies. 👍

Also if i was gonna make a Deal for JJ i wouldnt sacrifice MOH

  9. I would take Cummings… we have no one that the scum hate aka McCoist, Fergie etc..whereas the tattie howkers have Brown, the thumb, Sinclair etc who are all panto villains.
I also think he could form s great partnership with Morelos

  10. Id Rather we Pushed the Boat Out and went for Cummings Teammate Brereton
Only 18 and quality in Attk 👌

  11. Push the boat out?? We couldn’t do that last week when we tried to sign Murphy. We have to be realistic it’s great being linked to all these players everyday but it takes money to get it done. Personally I don’t think we will sign anybody until the summer. It will be loans for now until season ticket cash is available. The financial stability of the club is all that matters don’t want to go through hell again chasing they arseholes.
