Rangers fans set for two unexpected bonuses?

Rangers fans could be set for two unexpected bonuses to January’s window, with the possible returns to the first team squads for both long-term injury absentee Jordan Rossiter, and previously out-of-favour Joe Dodoo.

The youngsters were both in attendance for Tuesday’s training session at Ibrox, and in excellent spirits too.

We have written Rossiter off once or twice on the site, but if the 20-year old can regain fitness, and his presence two days ago in Govan suggests it is possible, then maybe Graeme Murty will have a ready-made solution for the defensive midfield issue.

Meanwhile Dodoo may not have travelled with the squad to Florida, reportedly playing for the development squad instead, but he barely played in London so will certainly not have had enough fitness to justify the trip – but the ex-Leicester man impressed in patches when he first joined Rangers with some terrific goals, and we are reluctant to press the red button on him just yet.

Despite the signing of Jason Cummings, Rangers’ only other striker is Alfredo Morelos, and if Dodoo was to kick start his career and realise the potential he showed at the King Power, he could be an asset to the team.

Time will tell if Graeme Murty agrees.

  1. I don't disagree regards Rossiter. If Joe Dodoo cant perform or even get a game at Charlton I don't hold out much hope for him. At 22 you are expecting more.

  2. Two bonuses indeed, if they are fit. Dodoo has the talent, but needs a number of games as a number 10, he is never a winger where he keeps getting placed. Rossister, well, we'll see!

  3. I just hope so,with all the loan Lads and around 20 games left some may be lucky to play three games before they head back some may never play a game.

  4. I wouldn't hold my breath with rossiter. I think his injury problem's run deep. And it's a pure shame because what potential the lad has.

  5. Young Jordan Rossiter would be a huge bonus, if he can stay fit and gets himself up to match fitness.

He reads the game well, is a good tackler and his passes are usually accurate.

  6. On the back of a cigarette packet, I have listed 28 First Team Squad outfield players currently signed, and by ignoring Development Squad players who have played the odd game. I have probably missed a few more. Competition for places is essential but there are going to be a lot of dissatisfied players unless there is a disposal plan in place.

  7. Am really struggling to understand why so many bears are constantly talking about rossiter being a huge Bonus if he was to get fit and the reason being is that he hasn't been able to play enough games for us at any time since his move from Liverpool, yes he was touted as being the next Gerard before his problems started but I remember John fleck being touted/ if not better than Rooney a long time ago as well and look what happened there,It is a shame for the lad and fear that we'll never get to see how good he is due to his injuries/problems but I would love to see him get fit and maybe then I would be able to say he's a Bonus
    but not at moment guys…

Ps. Ian Durrant was one of the best young midfielders our club has ever had,not just in Britain but in Europe and his career was ended prematurely, yes he did recover to play again but was never the same player we had the privilege to watch before his shocking injury and the point I'm trying to make is that we haven't had the same privilege regarding rossiter!!!

in our History and his name is Ian Durrant
