More fake news? Rangers’ January transfers latest

Another day, another hectic batch of news. This must be the most vibrant and active January window ever recorded at Ibrox, with an astonishing number of both confirmed and mooted departures, flanked by a significant number of definite incomings and likely arrivals.

We shall try to make sense of the most up to date stuff.

Bruno Alves’ move to Italian strugglers Benevento is very much on by all accounts, but the player himself is now pondering it. Reports are that he is considering a wage cut to make the switch, but one really has to wonder about the whole thing in light of the fact he is meant to be out long term injured. Why would Benevento be signing a crock? Either way, his priority is said to be this summer’s world cup and he has definitely fallen out of favour at Ibrox.

Colombian hitman Alfredo Morelos was linked with a £2M move to English side Bristol City, but a social media account purporting to be their senior scout in Scotland claimed the report is absolute hogwash. Still, expect the striker to be rumoured with other clubs regardless given the potential he has.

Attacker Josh Windass continues to be linked with a change in club too – Leeds United remain interested and Graeme Murty has addressed the speculation by saying the flanker must force these clubs to bid something ‘stratospheric’. Quite what qualifies as that is unclear, but it is evident that should he remain, Windass will be a crucial part of the XI.

Ryan Hardie has made another loan switch, this time to Livie (along with earlier loanee Jordan Thompson). The 20-year old just cannot break through at Ibrox and we do wonder if he will get an extension at all. His present deal expires in May.

Meanwhile West Brom reportedly rejected a crazy £4M bid from Leeds for Tyler Roberts, a player Rangers are looking at on a pre-contract basis. That price surely ends any interest Rangers have.

And the Greg Docherty saga rumbles on. Whether the 21-year old missed Hamilton’s cup match through injury or being deliberately saved for Rangers is not completely clear, but manager Martin Canning is optimistic of keeping the midfielder. At least for a few more days. Rangers’ last reported bid was £300,000, and the asking price is said to be double that. Do the math guys.

As for Jordan Jones? After the Killie soap opera played out over that one, it does appear rather dead in the water. There has been nothing new in that story beyond manager Steve Clarke whining about Ian McCall.

More as we hear it.

  1. Tyler Roberts would cost us 300k not a penny more, and he can sign any time he wants.

As for our media. Sun & DR 》》》》》》》

Mind don't ban the paper name and shame the reporter and get him sacked.

    Dear Editor.
It's with great regret and disappointment that we have decided to no longer allow ???? ????? to attend our Stadium on match days nor be present at any of our future press conferences.

The above individual has tarnished and misrepresented Rangers FC on several occasions with lies that have zero foundation.

This only affects the above individual not your newsgroup as a whole,
We at the club will make welcome any other reporter from your media group at the stadium and any future press conferences.

We at the club welcome any criticism that holds any water, in fact we relish it.
No longer shall the club be tarnished by any media group attending any Rangers associated event.
We do not want any bias towards the club just a truthful and accurate account of on field and off the field events.

    Signed.
The most successful club in the World.
