Emerson Hyndman

Emerson Hyndman

Few could complain from a Rangers persuasion about this January window so far. Sure, all the signings have been loans, Declan John aside, but after wasting £10M last summer, we are not sure loans are such a bad thing. In most cases, if they impress, the deal includes a purchase clause this summer.

However, when a certain red top rag linked us with a return to Bournemouth’s Emerson Hyndman, our heart sank.

Hyndman simply did not cut it at Ibrox last season. He had a few half decent matches early on, notably that fine display at Fir Park where even we bought into him, but thereafter he just made no impression at all and we were not at all disappointed at his departure.

So, frankly, we are really hoping said red top has called this one totally wrong.

The lad has never made a single appearance for Bournemouth in the league, having been there since summer 2016, and that says it all for the regard they hold him in.

This is not to say he is a horrendous player – he is not as bad as that. He just does not suit British football – in the SPL, especially in the Old Firm matches, he found the pace, as the Hispanics have done, passing him by.

A decent touch, yes, and capable of a goal or two up here, but absolutely not an inspirational player and not one we really need or want.

Some point out he won the club’s young player of the year. Well, this is a club who gave player of the year to Haris Vuckic under exactly the same six-month loan circumstances not that long ago so we are unsure how much regard we hold said accomplishment in.

Nevertheless, we have been extremely happy with all the business we have done; but we cannot add any desire to retrieve Hyndman to that.

  1. No! Please Be Wrong!

Like you say Had a Few Good Games then just went totally flat and did nothing after that.

Tell Bournemouth they can keep him 😂

Tbh Id Rather McGinn(Hibs) than Hyndman but I also wish we would Focus and Get Docherty and Roberts in the Door 😀

    • That's 2 out of 3 I want.
Roberts will be worth a fortune in 4/6 years.
Would be surprised not to see Roberts & Goss pulling on a England top in the future.
Docherty shows also the same promise and hopefully pull on the Scotland top.
Another one worth a go is Cole he's from good stock, but to be honest don't know a great deal about the boy!!
Exciting times ahead down Ibrox way.

  2. I'm going off topic for a second here, so apologies and bear with me. We need to talk about Stevie Naismith.

What is the script with all the 'Hearts coup; Rangers loss' headlines doing the round just now? How is it a loss to Rangers? The club never acknowledged his offer to play for 'free'; as far as we all know, we never put an offer in for him and we had no interest in signing him during this transfer window. It would only have been a loss if we'd bid for him and he rejected us in favour of Hearts (which we all know would never have happened, as he was clearly desperate to come back to Ibrox).

Total non-story created by the press to paint Rangers in a bad light again. And not just from the Record either – seems to be every rag in the land that's at it.

Anyway, apologies again – I had to get that rant out of my system!

    • he should be getting more game time, i hope he's not another we let go whilst flooding our team with midfielders. A mistake warburton mae and dare i say it deila, need quality over quantity and to reduce wage bill.

  3. I thought Hyndman was a good player, still young with plenty potential. However, unless we were going to sign him it doesn't make much sense to take another player on loan.

  4. Given that we have martin at the back and cummings presumably up top, for me the signing that could ultimately make it formidable would be steven davis. If only the board could find a means possible!personally i would offload alves niko cardoso pena to help fund it? i would also like to see barrie mc kay in a murty set up.

  5. Steve Davies apparently is coming next season and would be fantastic..
On another point can this usually high quality forum cut the “ we spent £10m “ crap.
We have spent £3.3m net to date season 2017/8. Celtic have spent £6.1m net to date and are negotiating on another £4m defender from Turkey.
So Celtic are likely to spend over £10m and we may spend £4m with Docherty if he comes for £6-700k. Bizarrely add back in the Virgil what’s his name money after his transfer to Liverpool.and Celtic and Rangers will have spent almost the same amount.

    • Fuk the manky mob mate.
      It's all about the Rangers!.

  6. Naismith's a rat for leaving and yet Davis coming back would be fantastic? I don't blame either. Am I missing something?
