Rangers legend now in the mix for manager position

A lot of punters have been raising the name Giovanni Van Bronckhorst in relation to the vacant Rangers gig, and it appears the ex-Rangers star and current Feyenoord manager has become a strong favourite in the hunt to succeed Pedro Caixinha.

The Dutch master had a fantastic time at Ibrox, fondly remembered by all fans as a powerhouse midfielder with an eye for goal and that stunning winner in Monaco typified the brilliance from Dick Advocaat in shelling out the £5M for the former Arsenal and Barcelona regular.

And now it seems his impressive spell in charge of the Dutch giants including winning the league has not gone unnoticed and the 42 year old seems to have become a real contender to take over in Govan.

Naturally Derek McInnes remains hot favourite, and in fact the Aberdeen chief’s odds have somehow shorted further, but with GVB suddenly right up there in the mix he is one ‘foreigner’ a lot of Rangers fans would probably be happy to see take the mantle.

His success in his homeland has made him a high-sought manager and while his Dutchmen are struggling in the marquee land of the Champions League (lost all matches and only scored three), he ticks a lot of the boxes Rangers fans are looking for in their new boss.

This would be a yes from us.

  1. Sky Sports sources claim this morning that Preude Homme, and Gio are not on DOF list and that Club sources say it will likely move in to next week,

    • Hi WIM (he really isn't btw)

Sky Sources also claimed we had started informal discussions with Steve McClaren and the club unofficially disputed that. It is quite a merrygoround!

      Cheers.

  2. Again only passing on what i've heard guys!I've heard the 5 man shortlist is derek mcinnes, alex neil, frank de boer,
mikel arteta and patrick vieira!Graeme murty is also being considered but i've since been told unfortunately, gio van bronckhurst isn't on the list!He would have been a very popular choice!!This is coming from a guy who's dad is friendly with john gilligan!!Time will tell i suppose!

    • Frank De Boer 😱 You’ve honestly got to be joking I’d have Ped back if that’s the case! Crystal Palace gave him the bullet quicker than a game of Russian Roulette…It’s going to be a drawn out affair this that’s for sure…Brace ourselves lol

    • God himself couldn't save Palace.
Would bite your hand off for De Boer me.
Frank's won titles where's McInnes can't even beat the unwashed never mind win a leauge ffs!!

    • That he may have done Robbie but so had PLG and look how that went. Walter never one a title until he stepped out of the shadows of Souness.. Past success doesn’t always give you a guarantee mate that’s all I’m saying… I actually would have Gio if Murty didn’t get it 👍

  3. We need to get a grip here! Has beens or people who can take us forward and not be stuck in the mire that has been our football for years. Going to the same old names means the same old shite! Let’s be brave and go for guys like Van Bronckhorst, Arteta and Graham Murty. Remember when the Dutch contingent came in before? Back them up with Scottish coaches and see where it goes. All the best boys.

  4. I've said this 'till i'm blue in the face, pardon the pun here guys!I'd have no qualms about giving graeme murty, the nod 'till christmas time.If the upturn in our form continues,i'd give murty a 12 month rolling contract!NO risk here imho whatsoever!Having got that out the way firstly,i also think it would be a very good appointment,if we could get gio van bronckhurst in,as our next manager, having graeme murty and jonathan johansson working with gio,as part of his backroom team! Now i know before anyone says, that any new manager likes bringing in,they're own backroom team, but i still think the gio,gm & jj new management team would imo, work superb together!Remember GVB has already won 2 trophies at feyenoord in his 2 years as the manager! He's won the dutch league title last season and the dutch cup the year before,in what was gio's maiden season,as feyenoord manager!I'd have him as our new manager in a minute!!Would be a terrific appointment imo and of course, very popular with our supporters!!
