Continued delay over Rangers appointment sees further dramatic change

Derek McInnes’ chances of becoming new Rangers manager have taken their biggest dent yet as the odds for the first time have slipped towards evens.

The former 1/7 favourite has slipped wildly to 8/13 and the chances now of him getting the job look more remote than they ever have.

The Dons chief has been the leading candidate for over two weeks, but the longer the delay over any announcement has gone on, the weaker his chances have become and now with momentum in Graeme Murty’s corner, the ex-St Johnstone boss looks like he is fading dramatically out of contention.

He remains odds on, of course, and the leading name in the managerial hunt, but the complete absence of any negotiations or discussions suggest he simply is not Rangers’ board’s choice.

Indeed, through unofficial channels the board announced he was not their preferred candidate and that, in fact, no one was.

But while Norwegian Henning Berg has today joined the ranks of those who want the position, it looks more and more like Graeme Murty will get the job, especially if he manages a good win on Saturday.

  1. This is getting boring, seriously pick 3 candidates and get the interview process started. The silence is deafening

  2. Two points. Firstly Martin is spot on this is becoming bloody boring, secondly it had better not be Murty, he has done ok but is under no pressure whatever as stand in manager, we need someone who has been there and done it at the very top, a proven winner. No more excuses or experiments. This is Rangers lets get it right this time, second place is not good enough and never will be. WATP

  3. Cmon boys, Rangers need a big man with big character to lead them. Derek M not big enough. Tommy Wright not big enough. Bilic? Deer in headlights. Could you imagine Gio Van Bronckhorst with Laudrup at the helm?

  4. GVB. Billic. De Boer.
Any of that 3 for me.

So what if Murty wins tomorrow and the next game he's beat nothing with that results》》》 NOTHING!!

  5. Look Murty is the man even if we get beat we have no money to bring in a new manager and his staff that could cost anything from 6 to 10 million plus money for new players top managers can not touch this job for now.

  6. The answer is staring them in the face ffs, mc liesh:rangers man, knows the standard expected, won league on last day against the odds despite having to turn to bosmans & free transfers ect. Now!murty would be his perfect right hand man as he's already thee develoing the next generation who would enter big eck's squad continously thus saving the club financially,as we rear our own and maybe adding 1 or 2 quality signings per window, for me it's a no brainer. also murty would gain more experience and become a future gers manager at no cost.n im a dolly c**t so what's the board got think about, it took me 10 mins.
