The Hampden photo which paints a thousand words

It is a picture which might just sum up the fractures between this board and the manager they have selected.

In the second half of the disgrace at Hampden yesterday, both Pedro Caixinha and his Motherwell counterpart Steve Robinson were bizarrely ordered to the stands by the struggling Steven MacLean.

However, while the Fir Park boss sat with his directors pretty much grinning his face off like a Cheshire cat, our manager not only did not grin like any cat, Cheshire or otherwise, but avoided his directors like the plague as well.

He and his assistant stood by a gaping distance away from the suits which pretty much confirms the divisions which now lie. In truth, they have likely been there from the start given the lack of unanimous support the Portuguese has at Ibrox.

But this photo sums it up garishly for fans to see.

Sure, some of the LIGGIT (Let it Gel, Give it Time) brigade will probably say he was just being polite and did not want to sit if there was not a spare seat for his right hand man.

But I highly doubt courtesy was something he gave a hoot about while all this was going on.

The whole situation has become a bigger shambles than it already was, and the sooner we have a more appropriate manager the better.

  1. lets be clear here, at any well run big club anywhere else in the world pedro would have been sacked before now, in fact he would never have been appointed in the first place, every time i hear him speak he reminds me of bertie voghts, a joke manager, but the real problem is the people in charge, weak and spineless, quite happy to be seen in the directors box with the tie and blazer on but not the guts to make big decisions, the supporters have backed king to the hilt but its his turn now, has he the spine and the money to make the big big calls?

    • I am glad Mr King, Mr Park and Mr Taylor got Rangers back from those who seek to really ruin us , however this is the time they need to step up and do the right thing Sack Him appoint Mc Leish and Billy Dodds Now please get us playing like Rangers .. Big Clubs don't tolerate failure ask Ronald Koeman .. Please sack him Now and get rid of the rubbish

    • its been 24 hours from the hampden debacle and what have we heard fro the people who run rangers? nothing!, all we have heard is more rubbish from pedro, hes starting to sound like the iraqi general in the gulf war that was on telly telling the people they were crushing the americans when an american tank passed behind him, everton took 24 hours to act, pedros going on about a reaction from the players, but if we beat killie 1-0 at ibrox on wednesday he will think everything in the garden is rosy! we are wasting time, get rid now and give a new manager time to assess the squad before the next transfer window, surely the board are not blind to the guff we are seeing on the park, £2m for pena? a sacking offence in its self!

    • This mentality of demanding the best performance and results at all times no matter what is going to keep Rangers at this level for a long time. Why do we always keep looking back to the glory days and those associated with them, i wouldn't be happy with Souness coming back as he wouldn't perform much better and his personality wouldn't be the best thing to also deal with either.. These are different days and this team reflects only the start of us trying to build one that can compete for the title and in Europe. I'm not saying Caixinha is the answer, but then I always felt we would have been better building a good team with Tommy Wright at the helm. Those who think Rangers can pick up where they left off after coming in from the wilderness and without the money we had at our disposal are deluded and are going to be the cause of a longer fight back to the top with all this unnecessary pressure at such an early stage in this managers realm. I understand fully how soul destroying results like the Motherwell game are but patience would be a better thing to do than reacting to the rubbish from the Daily Record, with Jackson and the constant barrage from the idiot Sutton. They are loving this and are trying to keep us all at odds, trust the guys at Gers and let them get on wi things.

  2. We are becoming an absolute joke. We have got one more chance to get a proper manager and if we cock it up again we will never catch that bloody lot. WATP

    • We won't catch "that lot" while King remains Chairman, he is just another con man just like the others that preceded him. What has happened to the much publicised share issue now that Ashley has gone; it has disappeared as well!

    • I think you have hit the nail on the head Andy. We are not a well run club! King is the problem, I am not saying that Pedro should stay but King should definitely go!

    • Tom you are right in parts , the share issue has to be done at either an AGM or EGM , so hopefully we will try to get it done this time, But I agree we do need to refresh the board bring in some new blood and new money for sure …Possibly King might not be chairman if this happens but he is still the major shareholder . As far a s being run the club is in better shape than a couple of years ago

  3. I believe the players are decent but the manager is not. He's a poor man manager of players so has no respect.
A half decent manager would produce results with the same team…
He's lost the team so the team lose…

    • Zippy, what team have you been watching? Everything is terrible from the managers histrionics to the team on the field, they're rank. King is playing games with us, we'll spend more going through the turnstiles than he ever will. words fail me. I can't help but think I'm looking down a big black hole. Sorry Bears. WATP

  4. yeah pedro cant come back from that .its not pedros fault its the chairmans all we had to do was sign the best players in scotland thats used to playing here we would have been sorted ,alves pena and co havent got the heart for it been really dissapointed with them two how can windass get a game he offers nothing .dont think pedro would last the week out

  5. It is not just the manager that should go, King should be gone as well. He has presided over the signing of two second rate managers, managers with no track record when he should have been going for a top quality manager and giving him the financial backing to seriously compete with Celtic. As always King has gone for the cheap option and as the old saying goes, pay peanuts, get monkeys!

    • I assume that like most other you did not follow the court case recently when King disclosed he is SKINT in the UK, what wealth he has he can't get out of SA, so maybe not so much as paying peanuts as paying what he can afford.

  6. After yesterday's disgraceful and embarrassing display (and I am not referring to the performance on the pitch here – I am talking about Pedro) I can't understand why Caixhina is still at the club. King should have removed him first thing this morning. As I am writing this Everton have just taken decisive action and dismissed Koeman. Anyone on here who still feels that Caixhina needs more time – then I would say to you that you have allowed your expectation levels to drop well below what should ever be acceptable for Rangers Football Club. The excuses don't wash. Players need more time to gel – well M'well brought in 18 new players over the summer. There is no money to sign quality – well Herrera cost 3 times as much as it would have cost to buy Moult in the summer. We can't afford to get rid of Perdro – well we certainly can't afford to keep him or the once mighty Gers will slip so far down the pecking order to a level that we may never recover from. He will cleanse the club of any remaining quality while bringing in further like minded bang average nomads and journeymen who are too grateful to have found a home that they will never call him out for the fake and snake oil salesman that he is. King has to act now, and whichever Board member or members championed Caixhina's appointment should stump up for his compensation, before quietly handing in his club tie and stepping down.

  7. I don't think that's the assistant in the picture, by the way- it's an SFA chappie.

I have been behind Pedro as I feel we have to be, but yesterday showed something is markedly wrong at the club.
Yes, the ref was shite and Motherwell bullied us, but as has been said elsewhere, we let them. The refs are shite for all the teams, just us that seem to suffer a bit more.

But the ref had sod all to do with us losing. If any of our players could shoot straight (Candeias, Windass) or we had 11 on the pitch (don't count Pena- empty jersey and very disappointing) who wanted the win, it would have been different.

Morelos is a good prospect, but he can't do it alone. Yesterday it was him vs the Motherwell defence basically. He needs a partner, simple as.

Ped may be a decent man and a decent coach, but there is one thing that he is that is going to end him at Ibrox- he is too stubborn.

Clearly persisting with duff options, clearly sticking to a non-working model and clearly not entertaining any debate in the dressing room. He is a stubborn git and that is fine when you are winning, but the mark of a good manager is the ability to adapt and change. He can't.

I still think it's a bit of a shame that there have been a section of the support willing his failure and desperate to get on the "told you so" bandwagon.

I have been all over here with criticism of Kenny Miller, but it's a no-brainer that he should have played yesterday. You can never fault his workrate and determination. Agree totally about Morelos drying up since a partner was taken away.

I'm not sure this picture says as much as the other one doing the rounds, though- Wallace, King, Robertson and Miller having a wee blether and a giggle.

I for one am not inclined to blame the Board- they tried something, it hasn't panned out. They need to have the balls to sort it out now, though.

Only problem is, I don't see any viable replacements. McLeish? Macinnes?
    Maybe as a stopgap.

Bottom line- we can't afford quality. I saw somewhere Ped is paid circa 900k. Brenda is paid over 2 mill.

    There you have it.

  8. We knew that this was going to be a very hard game… and you cant beat teams when you cant score, really their were THREE people who shouldnt have started the game.WINDASS,PENA and then, the so-called manager PEDRO.Just showed the Rangers fans, how very poor and heartless this mob are. A LOT of changes need made or we are going to continue to be a poor team for the rest of the season…

  9. Get rid of King and what please enlighten me I'm all ears???
Who's his replacement the Sultan of Brunei?? More like Mike Ashley!!
I agree we need a new manager but untill some investor comes along we are where we are.
Also our board is spineless the only reason the breadman went was because he handed in his resignation the board did fuk all. King has to get involved in the next appointment if not himself tie in with our DOF and keep it away from the board they have proven they don't have a fuking clue.
Seems like business as usual Pedro back taking training.
Can only hope something is going on behind the scenes but no doubt the board will be doing what they always do fuk all!!!😭☠🔫

  10. Where are the rangers of old goals count not stats a bit of pride for the badge would not go amiss
Come on wake up and kick start the season

  11. Sorry, but as a Kenny Miller fan, he is not the answer. Look at how many league goals he has scored this season – notice anything?

Pena never was, is not and never will be the answer. I have defended Pedro as much as I can, but the money spent on Pena would have bought men who can play in this thugs league. – Moult, Cadden, Walker would be a start.

Playing with Pena and Windass asks too much of the other nine – you can't play a whole season two men down. I don't know which of the others are good enough or not – we need to dump those two first to judge 11 men on the park at the same time.

Until we can start to address some of this why not try Hardie and play two up top. There is no way he can be worse than Pena. Try Nemane on the left, or lad out of the reserves like Atakayi.

But we need more people who understand what Rangers is about – other teams will try to kick us. Stand your ground or bring up our own Hammer throwers
