Triple injury blow rocks Rangers

Rangers’ preparations for Saturday’s Old Firm clash at Ibrox have been rocked with the news that a number of players are set to miss the match with injury.

From last Thursday and a fully-fit squad, Pedro Caixinha’s plans have been disrupted with injuries to Lee Wallace, Jordan Rossiter and Niko Kranjcar.

Wallace is set to be replaced tomorrow night at least by on-loan Cardiff man Declan John, but his absence may be more telling come Saturday and the visit of Rodgers’ men. John may well continue in his place, or reserve fullback Lee Hodson may be wheeled in from the cold to slot in there.

Meanwhile Jordan Rossiter’s wretched time at Ibrox continues with a further and new injury, this time to his knee, which appears to have ruled him out for an undisclosed amount of time. The midfielder continues to be denied a smooth run of either playing time or fitness and that seems set to continue.

Last but not least Croatian playmaker Niko Kranjcar, ruled out of the last trip to Thistle, is still being assessed and is a major doubt for Saturday’s titanic clash.

These are problems Pedro Caixinha could have done without, with such an important September underway in earnest.

    • Alves has completely under performed imo. He should be doing a much better job than he has been doing. I wouldn't give him the armband because he simply doesn't deserve it.

    • Agree , both centre backs have been underwhelming . Ducking out the road of that Thistle free kick like a big pussy was shocking . Thought Alves was meant to be a right hard bastard ? Still need a big killer centre half and a midfielder who can get right in among'st them . Other teams are out to kick us off the park , Ger's have always needed guy's who can deal with that and we've been lacking that type of player for too long .

  1. O font know what you guys think but for Declan John I know it was his 1st game but I think if we play him against septic then ppppfffffttttt. He will get exposed. He doesn't look much of a defender to me and for that matter doesn't look much of a player either. I think we have to play hodgson there as he might no be great going forward but he can defend better than any of our full backs Imo.

I go with fod in goal tav right back wilson and Alves cb and hodgson left back. Mid 5 of since rossiter is crooked again. I would go with 2 holding mids in Holt and Jack. 2 wingers in windass and candias and Dorrans in behind Morelos. That would be my team but I'm not pedro so let's see what this tit decides. I just hope he dint go with the 442 as we will get hammered again. In a way maybe a doing would be worth while if it meant Ped got his p45. I don't think he has a clue. Probs get slated for that but he talks the talk just can't walk the walk

  2. Rangers will struggle along until King is out of the door, its not a coincidence that he didn't pick this manager as he now can't be blamed if it goes wrong..
Almost 3 years king has been in charge, (doesn't time fly by when you.. Will leave out rest of this sentence).. As a business it hasn't improved since he arrived in fact debt had risen & each season it becomes harder to balance the books to make it past FFP for EU games, at some point the club have to forget about Celtic for the near future & build a long term plan to get club back on a good financial (& football) position, but I fear you fans will have to wait until King cashes out for the that to happen.

    • I think your right in this, King will need to go before the club gets any further. The problem is finding another one to come in with the cash required. No easy job

    • Camden person .. you just worry about the rot that is taking hold at you own place .. Desmond will soon be gone and then what .. have to run it like ….a biscuit tin

    • Celtic are hugely profitable, it's nothing to do with Desmond.
If Van Dijk moves in January for £60m then Celtic could buy rangers with the money they make from the sell on fee alone. Sad but true.
