Rangers XI for Dundee – Pedro to make one key change

Following a patchy start to the season, Pedro Caixinha will be eager to claim a second win in a row this weekend when his men host former Ibrox hero Neil McCann’s Dundee.

Rangers have managed two wins of four so far, and are under modest pressure to get some momentum, but with the County victory still not managing to persuade many that form is on its way, what XI will Pedro go with to seize a bit of continuity and try to get that second win and make the international break count?

Ibrox Noise proposes the following XI is likely to be his best choice, with just the one change.

In goal we cannot see Wes Foderingham failing to show up, just like defence will continue as James Tavernier, Fabio Cardoso, Bruno Alves and Lee Wallace.

There had been a little doubt over the veteran Portuguese after he had been taken ill for his country’s first World Cup qualifier of the double header, but he appears to have fully recuperated after starring for the Selecção in the following win over Hungary.

In midfield the trio of Daniel Candeias, Ryan Jack and Graham Dorrans should take their usual slots, but Niko Kranjcar is set to find himself on the bench with a debut for new signing Declan John on the left.

Up front it is likely to be Kenny Miller and the increasingly impressive Colombian Alfredo Morelos despite Eduardo Herrera bagging a goal at Dingwall.

So, your Ibrox Noise XI:

Formation: 4-4-2

Wes Foderingham; James Tavernier, Fabio Cardoso, Bruno Alves, Lee Wallace; Daniel Candeias, Graham Dorrans, Ryan Jack, Declan John; Kenny Miller, Alfredo Morelos.

Is this Rangers’ best selection possible? Would you guys make any changes to this?

  1. John won't start…..although it would be a good game to introduce him…….Pena has to start in a game like this …at home against fodder….makes sense eh?

  2. Here's mine
    4-2-3-1
    Tavi.
    Bruno.
    Cardoso
    John.

    Jack.
    Rossiter.

    Dorrans/Candeias
    Pena-Free Role.
    Windass.

    Morelos.

I know I'm going to get it 1 up front.
Pena will attack the box at every opportunity that's his game but needs as much playing time as possible.
Tavi & John are rapped and the 2 will cover them when in a advanced role.
Also both our full backs need to get it in there heads when one is advanced the other must sit, Basic football ballance that!
Herrera on for last 30/35, game should be out of sight by then.

Here so much negativity on here, for me Rangers are twice the team of 12 months ago.
    CH's Fuking Nightmare- Addressed!!
    Quality CF- Addressed!!
Not the finished article but defo going North not South.

  3. Watched the Ross County game again and Pena had some good touches and got in some good positions. A bit ring-rusty, obviously.
Didn't think Niko deserved all the flak he got either- he had some very good touches and set up several chances. I know he lost the ball for their goal, but it was arguably a foul (would have been a foul on Sinclair, Brown, Forrest…) and Wallace was caught out waaay up the pitch.

Thought Wallace had a good game, though- combination for the third goal was sweet.

  4. I think it would be good to see Penna start we need to see if he can get even close to what he is supposed to be and with respect to Dundee they are a good opposition to go for a good run out here . Not sure why the lad John would be considered to start might be worth letting him get the feel for Ibrox in the latter stages of the game give Lee a rest . Keen to see Rossiter too get a run out
