Rangers to make final bid for summer target; reports

Recent reports have claimed Rangers are set to make a final bid for Hearts’ winger Jamie Walker, with the Gorgie side confirming today that Director of Football Craig Levein will continue as manager.

Whether Levein’s ‘new’ position will make any difference to their desire to retain the 24 year old winger is yet to be seen, but it had been posited some weeks ago that Rangers would be likely to secure their long-term target but not until the tail end of the month.

With Josh Windass and Niko Kranjcar failing to settle at left wing or being beset with injury, fitness issues and inconsistency, there is a significant vacancy for a convincing left winger to nail that spot down and provide the counter balance for Daniel Candeias on the opposite side, and boyhood Bear Walker could well be the man.

Reports are that Rangers will make one final bid over the coming days, in the region of over £700K, and Hearts will make their final decision on the sale.

Whether Levein’s trip from the stands to the dugout will make a difference remains to be seen.

  1. Why can't we just tempt them with a £900k bid. I still think £700 will get knocked back

  2. The loan signing from Man City is he not a left sided MF come winger?
I am sure part of loan agreement is that we will play the boy.

    1. Yes mate he is a winger so hum and windass to pick from.
Would just wait till January and get Walker signed up for nothing in the summer.
Would rather we got Heneghan from Motherwell and another CF

  3. Why bother? Sign him on a pre contract in January. If we have a spare half million, but it to better use. Walker will wait. he knows we want him and we need to give some of the other players time to prove whether or not they are any good.

If I thought signing Walker tomorrow would bring us the league, I would say go for it. But it won't. So let's take a gradual approach. Walker and McLean to sign in January for summer 18 arrival. By then we will know who else will need replaced.

    1. Bigbaws...
They want 1 million for him as he's going for nothing very soon.
15 goals in a season playing for hearts is hardly pish.
He will give us another option on the left, that can never be bad!!
