Rangers target reaches deal to quit current club

Leeds United have confirmed that Rangers’ reported target Souleymane Doukara has secured a deal with the Elland Road club to leave, and manager Thomas Christiansen hopes to have a replacement for the Senegalese forward in by the weekend.

The 25-year old ex-Catania forward was omitted for the EFL Cup clash with Newport amidst doubts about his future, and following the heavy speculation linking him with Rangers their manager has now confirmed the attacker is set to leave imminently.

This has further fuelled the fire with regards the Rangers interest, and with Pedro Caixinha keen to bolster his options up front, a free agent with the experience of Doukara could be just the ticket to join up.

Other contenders to grab the playmaker’s services are Hull City, but with them securing ex-Rangers attacker Jon Toral for £3M, the chances of them continuing their interest in the Senegalese are massively reduced.

We await this one with interest.

  1. I hope we get the lad and also this young fella on loan from Man City brought by the DOF..We need goals but again you are asking these lads to come to One of and deliver its a tall order !@!@ Been better going for proven …Naismith

  2. Signing Leeds failures is NEVER going to help us close gap on Celtic. It's really that simple.

For every player we sign the rest should be – is he first better than what we have and secondly would he be good enough to make it at Celtic, either now or in future. Without passing both those tests we should not even consider that player.

We lack any strategy both on and off the park. The manager is the wrong man, the board is clueless and worst of all these valid criticisms are shouted down by same people who defended Warburton.

    • Well reasoned E-Chef.

For my 2¢, I think you're absolutely correct with respect to long term vision. Short term we may have to be a bit more pragmatic.

To wit: if our standard is whether or not a player is better than what Celtic currently has, we're only looking to maybe bringing in a 2-3 players per year. It's going to take us several years just to field a starting 11 of that caliber, and that assumes we can hold onto all of them for more than a year or two. Remember; Celtic only brought in 4 players last year, and I think they've only brought in 3 or 4 this year while also losing Patrick Roberts. Point being that they've raised their own standard of who's good enough, and they're focusing their resources (which with UEFA money is far more than ours) on improving their squad 3-4 players at a time.

A similar approach is needed at Ibrox, quality rather than quantity, but I think we need to set our standards independent of what Celtic does. For me, I would simply be happy if we, for once, started signing players who were clear upgrades over what we have, and then had a manager who could improve those players even more. Whether the acquisitions are better than their Celtic counterparts when they walk through the door is going to be challenging (to say the least) given the financial disparity at the moment, and also unimportant if the plan is to have the manager improve their performances and abilities even further.

Side note: another reason why Murty should take over as full time manager when Pedro is eventually shown the exit.

  3. Breaking news, just heard Ped just went home after training, was fed up woŕking 24 hours a day, anyhow when he got home the CURTAINS WERE STILL DRAWN, SO HE OPENED THEM UP AND FOUND TWO PAIRS OF GREEN FOOTBALL BOOTS, WORSE STILL SOMEONE HAD RUN OVER THE FRONT GRASS WHICH WAS GROWING NICELY, IT IS REPORTED THAT THE CAR WAS INDEED A PORCHE.
You just cant make up what the guy is going to say next, shudder to think what the players are saying behind his back, well no I don't decause it is pretty clear they are buying into everything he says on the field, namely garbage in garbage out.J
