Rangers midfielder rejects move to England

Rangers midfielder Harry Forrester has rejected a move to Southend United, it has been revealed today.

The creative playmaker and goalscorer has been made surplus by manager Pedro Caixinha and is now training with the U23s, and is said to seek a move to an English Championship side.

Ex-team mate Rob Kiernan recently joined Phil Brown and his gang down south, but Forrester has dismissed the chance to join him at the Boots and Laces Training Ground, preferring a move to a better league/team instead.

Reports had initially claimed that Forrester had in fact been told to stay away from Auchenhowie entirely and find a new club, but Sky Sources have confirmed the truth is slightly less extreme and the 26-year old is with the highest branch of the Academy until he finds a new club.

Burton Albion are reportedly monitoring the situation and that would probably suit the ex-Doncaster man more, but as with it all, we will see what materialises.

  1. I liked Forrester when he first started with Rangers and is far too good to be let go for free. Why not exchange him for Kenny McLean at Aberdeen or with Walker of Hearts + us giving them money of course?

He would do well playing for another SPFL team, but not quite good enough for Rangers.

  2. Corse he isn't going to leave. He's on good money and has no proffesionlism at all.. we knew that when we signed him.. another big mistake

  3. Talking about midfielders I thought Jordan Rossiter was immense last night. The 20 year old is superb at making everything easy. Class player indeed.

    • I agree. He may struggle to get too much game time ahead of Ryan Jack and we will not need two holding Midfielders in vast majority of our matches, but good to have options. Means they can be rested when needed.

Going forward we may struggle to keep both if fit. Been a long time since we had such problems, nice ones to have :0)

    • Agree, Alex. A class act on and off the park. And to think he's only 20 years of age. If he stays injury-free, his value will skyrocket in the next couple of years I'd say.

  4. Forrester did relatively well for us I thought, a decent player. He's a good professional that I don't think ever upset the apple cart. Just too weak physically. Look at Candeias…he's powerful going forward, but also a tough nut who fights like hell to win back possession. Forrester was decent going forward, but no use at retrieving possession. We need no-nonsene players on the field, players who can mix it up if needed. With Pedro's new signings, we seem to have that (tho still early days).

Souness, speaking in the 'That Was The Team That Was' documentary:

"I always felt at Rangers – and maybe it still applies today – that we had to have a team that had 2 or 3 warriors in there that were, 'You can have a game of football today chaps, or you can have a war today.'"

3 warrior-types that spring to mind for me are Alves, Jack and Dorrans (there are more too, like Candeias and even wee Morales). Compare Alves, Jack, Dorrans and Candeias with….Wilson, Holt, Halliday and Forrester. The difference in mentality is like night and day. Think that's why fans are excited the most, because we can all see that change of spirit on the park.

  5. Harry Forrester has rejected a move to Southend United why he gets more money each week staying where he is,he is going sit on the best money playing or not.

  6. Hope he has a good cushion, this reject would never get off the bench, if l were him I would jump ship as soon as
