Rangers linked to Senegalese forward

Doubts about Rangers’ interest in Jamie Walker have been cast following recent reports that manager Pedro Caixinha may have dropped his interest in the Hearts winger to focus on Leeds’ out of favour forward Souleymane Doukara.

The Senegalese versatile forward is said to be close to a departure from Elland Road and with Rangers’ much-publicised pursuit of Walker continuing to go nowhere, it could be that Rangers’ boss has lost patience with Hearts and opted instead for the 25-year old English Championship forward.

With 6 goals in 17 appearances for the Yorkshire side last season, the forward is not afraid of the back of the net and is versatile enough to essentially be able to play any advanced attacking role, from winger, to attacking midfield, to striker, or second striker.

He remains under contract till next summer so he is unlikely to be a free transfer unless Leeds cut him loose under the ‘mutual consent’ moniker, but with Rangers’ troubles in attack well documented, this forward with experience of high-level English and Italian Serie A (Catania) football could well be of some help in that area.

  1. If we need a Championship 1 in 3 striker, no longer a youth who will improve, why did we let Garner go?
Would rather have Walker. Lets find out if Hardie and Dodoo can deliver for us. Give them a run out. If they fail over a season, cut them loose and bring a striker in next summer.

  2. Can we trust Pedro with more signings , the players he let go are banging them in every game . We got Dalcio and lost McKay ,we got Candieas and let O Haloran go out on loan. Sorry guy's I don't feel that " IN PEDRO WE TRUST " Moniker .
Just my opinion at this time . Out of Europe I can cope but not winning at home . Well that's got to change quick . Two more bad results and he's gone for sure.

  4. Hope this comes to fruit, he's big strong as a Ox and knows where the onion bag is.
Good partnership with Morelos, Kenny M will be then allowed to come on for the last 25/30 minutes, he's defo still got that in him and a few goals to chip in with the tally.
Win our next 4 games would put the wheels firmly back on the bus!!!

  5. Not sure about given,Pedro any more money to bring in players what if he gets the boot a new manager will want money to bring in his own players only one player i want Pedro to bring in before he gets the boot and that is JW no more wasting money Pedro do the job with the tools you have now and we all will back you if not then go.

  6. Rather this lad than Walker any time of day. Walker was garbage on Saturday, never a million pound player! I'd sub Miller for Dodoo. Hardie just isn't Rangers class, get rid. We need a creative midfielder, which I am hoping Pena is, therefore, get him on the pitch for goodness sake!
And for those getting on their high horse with regards to Waggy, McKay, Garner and Ohalloran finding the net? They are not playing against an 11 man defence in every game. They failed to penetrate that here, therefore finding it easier in the lower leagues of England. Some make it sound that they are scoring against Chelsea or Liverpool, get a grip, they just could not handle the pressure of being a Rangers player and the demands of the jersey!!!
Herrera seems to be a dud, he is big slow lump who can't header a ball. He ain't no Hateley thats for sure!
Pedro is on a shoogly peg, we all know this. I think we need to give him till the first old firm and take it from there. Respect?!, Earn it Pedro!!
4 out of 9 points, and 5 points behind the beggars in 3 games. Not the best of starts, but we need to stop this rot immediately before the rest of the pack leaves us in the bottom 6, because that's where we're heading at this rate!!!

  7. In the last few years we have played tippy tappy football muscled easy off the ball he looks a strong player I would like to see JW and this boy sign and agree use Miller sparingly as a supersub

  8. Just wondering if Souley Doukara is Pedro's choice of target or is Mark Allen, our Director of Football, exerting any influence now. ?. Shouldn't he be taking Ped aside and advising him strongly on his media statements. In fact, why can't Mark take over some of these duties and leave Pedro to concentrate at Auchenhowie. I had a wee bet on Hamilton to beat Hibs on Saturday because Lennon was doing what he loves best aĺl week, soaking up the glare of publicity. His team looked as flat(apparently) as ours did. I don't know whether Big Souley is worth a punt but i'd not be too unhappy if we got Jamie Walker on a pre-contract contract in January. He's not match fit anyway and probably wouldn't make an instant impact now. Better if we had got him at the start of the window. Anyway, chins up lads. Mon the Gers.

  9. Would like to see forgotten man Dodoo partner Morelos upfront instead of the aging headless chicken Miller but one thing is certain that Ped must depart alongside our worst goalie

  10. We have already let better players leave this summer than Doukara trust me. Writing has been on the wall for a while now. Peds is simply not the man that we need. I am sorry to say it and am truly disappointed but ffs when do we wake up and see the obvious?
