Rangers in talks with ex-Man Utd midfielder: reports
 Article by: Ibrox Noise

While Rangers’ transfer activity has started to dry up a little in recent days, reports of new links have still been filtering through and the latest is an intriguing focus on recently-freed Ryan Tunnicliffe.

According to a number of outlets, the former Fulham and Blackurn midfielder is a target for Pedro Caixinha, and at only 24 the Englishman’s best years are surely ahead of him, but Rangers are not the only side interested in his services with Barnsley and PNE supposedly in the hunt too.

Rangers have been associated with a great number of wingers recently, with obvious ones like Jamie Walker still in the picture, while Jamie Murphy’s name and now that of Tunnicliffe have joined the party, and with Barrie McKay’s departure still leaving something of a vacancy, there is certainly room for another good quality flanker to arrive.

Naturally with Tunnicliffe being a free agent there would be no transfer fee, and he comes from a decent school with youth and senior experience at the club he came through in the form of Man Utd, while moving onto the likes of Ipswich and Wigan gaining several youth caps for his country at the same time.

Rangers are certainly in the market for a wide man or two, and any of the likes of Walker, Murphy and Tunnicliffe would fit the bill.

We will see if this story grows legs.

  1. ffs it's a no brainier Moult… and wae shooda had Lafferty beside him and Naismith just behind.IMO.

  2. If he is on a free and a Championship side wants him, they can outbid us.

For me, Walker is the better bet. If Hearts won't sell for a reasonable price, take a winger on loan for a year and sign Walker on a pre-contract 183 days before it expires, then let Hearts whistle.

    • Me too, Walker has to come. A midfield of Jack, Dorrans, Walker and Krancjar will put the shits up any team in this league.

On midfielders, I saw a clip of Phil Foden playing for Man City against Utd the other day, and goes to show that youth teams at the likes of City, Utd and Chelsea aren't a bad place to go shopping. Hope we can produce and hold on to our own young stars in seasons to come too.

  3. He's been linked with us for two seasons now. Reckon it's his agent as I can't see where he fits. It's full backs and a winger we need.

  4. Bring Harris vuldic back to ibrox afterror his release from Newcastle and what about Mr Wisse never mind playing hearts mind games and rangers should not be stripped of any titles as it was not the team who broke any rules it was the board it's like you blame the team for what your employer did it's now time we draw a line under this for the greater good of scotish football all the best to Pedro and the boys for the Forth comming season .

  5. Don't know if Jamie Barjonas made an appearance against Marseille, but that boy should be a very regular starter in the team. Sending him out on loan would be a waste IMO as he's got all the attributes to make a first-team berth his own this season.

  6. Much as Pedro is digging his heel-in over Wallace, I'd get shot of him and bring-in a brand new decent Left Back.
I'd also try and get this lad Walker from hertz though, pay the price, get it done.

    ……………. then get Naismith.

  7. Now what about a loan player what about the loan players we already had they are only here for
match time to get fit only buy a player forget the loans.
