Rangers-linked SPL midfielder confirms desire to leave present club

On top of the glut of transfer activity coming out of Ibrox right now is the news that Hearts’ 23-year old forward Jamie Walker has confirmed with Ian Cathro his desire to leave Tynecastle.

Walker has been linked with Rangers of late, and it appears the boyhood Bluenose may be set to get his wish as Hearts boss Craig Levein has corroborated the lad wishes to move on.

He said:

“Ian has been through quite an extensive discussion with Jamie to try to get him to stay. Jamie said he has been here a long time and feels it is time to move on.”

Pressed on the interest from Rangers, Levein added:

“There comes a point with every player if we get an offer that’s deemed to be acceptable then we’ll look at that. These are circumstances that happen.”

It is unclear what amount would be required to capture Walker’s services, but he has clearly got his heart set on a move out of Edinburgh and it is hard to imagine his wanting to go anywhere else other than Pedro Caixinha’s overhaul in Govan.

  1. I had no idea Walker was a Hun, and only learned a couple of weeks ago that Dorrans was one of us. Absolutely great news. If we sign players for their ability, but they happen to be supporters of the club too, we're onto a winner. Wonder if there are other possible targets who are Bears? I don't know how he's doing now, but a year ago I had hopes that Lawrence Shankland would join us; what I saw of him in the past, he looked a good young striker. Ability comes first of course, but having a spine of players in the team who would die for the shirt would be very nice.

    • Lawrence Shankland was a player I rated when he played with Queens Park, Aberdeen signed him and farmed him out to Dunfermline at one stage and another club as well I think St. Mirren, but he hasn't seemed to ignite the powder to further his prospects of progressing to a higher level.
He is one of those players that seemed to score against us every time he played against us and from memory wasn't over enthusiastic in his celebration, later on I found out that h is also one of us. Might be worth keeping an eye on as I think he is still only around 21.

  2. i would like to see him @ the club. ps, anyone think mendes could get the boots back on for a season?

  3. Been impressed with him. Not slow at having a pot at goal. I wonder though if he's in Pedro's sights. We've just about got Bruno, Pena, Ryan Jack and Dalcio. Possibly another 2 Portugese plus Dorrans. How much would be left in the transfer pot. ?
