Rangers close to signing two internationalists: reports

Sky Sports have today confirmed Rangers are negotiating with two imminent recruits with regards a switch to Ibrox.

Norwich City striker Graham Dorrans and Guadalajara’s Mexican midfielder Carlos Pena are now said to be in direct discussions with Pedro Caixinha, with Dorrans reportedly very close to being over the line.

The 30-year old Scottish international has been whispered in connection with Rangers, but until today nothing truly concrete emerged regarding likelihood, but with Sky’s verifying the story, it does seem Rangers could be very very close to their first summer signing under the new manager.

As for Pena, work permit issues are said to be a possible stumbling block with this one, but it is still very much a goer and the engine room man is looking a very possible signing in the coming weeks or even days.

Rangers’ summer work might finally be properly underway after weeks of speculation.

  1. Have to say I am quite impressed with the transfer TARGETS so far but I won't believe anything until we see they have signed……defi would b a big improvement next year if guys like Dorrans Naismith Alves etc join…… and anyone saying no to Naismith get real it would b a MAJOR signing!

    • David, it may be a major signing, but that doesn't mean people shouldn't object, I am on record as saying I will accept him back, because it is in our best interests, but I respect those who don't want him and understand their reasons.

What does concern me is Norwich fans slating him saying he can't pass the ball and has been a passenger in games he has played this season. I don't know if this is true, but I will be unhappy if he signs and doesn't perform. And I still won't forgive or forget, no matter how well he does.

    • I understand supporters that are saying no to him coming bk but bang a couple in against ceptic and he will be welcomed back by all believe me…… think of mo Johnston

  2. Dorrans is a player I would like to see at Rangers. He has the heart of a lion and digs hard. He has proven qualities at the highest level. Looked at some videos of Pena. He looks very pacy and cool in front of goal. Question is, would he be able to adapt to our game? only time would tell.

  3. Bruno alves will be confirmed as a rangers player before the end of the week!!Thats a statement because what a tremendous signing that will be for us,even though he's now 35 years old!!Big alves will easily play in scottish football for 3 years!!He's exactly what we're needing!!

  4. Naismith tell him to get tae f–k he let Rangers down when we looked after him all the time he was injured & made him the player he was. He could have & went away for a fee to help us. He is a traitor not welcome BACK

  5. First time ive been excited about our club in months, i hope we go for moult too as we need someone up front thats a bit different with height, strength and pace, moult has all 3. If not moult then lafferty, i know most of you wont agree but who ever pulls the jersey on i will fully support them.

  6. From what I read Pena is a gamble, the Joey Barton of Mexican football. Let's hope he's a bit cheaper…!!

  7. Naismith is still only 30 and can't be finished yet however I wouldn't pay a large fee for him ,as it's a gamble plus the additional baggage of his past treachery makes it not worth taking

  8. "Rangers will not speculate on who our transfer targets might be. Whenever a deal gets done, THEN, we will issue a statement on the matter" "Meantime, enjoy the summer break".
"Any speculation, that is bandied around in the media, will be coming from people unconnected with the club. Or from people who want to see any association, they might have with the club, ended".

    Too much to ask for?

  9. What i would like to know who has left the club? did we get the 10 dead woods out yet or are they just going sit on there ass and take there wages?
