Betting on Rangers

From a betting point of view, how will Rangers do this season despite trailing Celtic by eleven points? The betting
odds
are certainly stacked against them, so much so football bettors might
want to consider betting Rangers in Scottish Cup markets instead.
The season is a third of the way in and Rangers trail league-leading Celtic by eight points. Not least, the Hoops have three games in hand. Depressingly, Celtic have a stranglehold on the Scottish
Premiership market, priced as the runaway favourites at 1.005.
It would take a minor miracle for Rangers priced at 41.00 or, for that matter, second-placed Aberdeen at 51.00 to
close the gap in the table and wrestle the SPL from the defending champions.

Last month, when Rangers were drifting
seven points behind Celtic, Josh Windass insisted his side could still win the
Scottish Premiership even without beating
Celtic
Wonder if he still
feels the same now it’s increased.
The premise to Windass’ theory was to win
out against the rest of the league. Sounds ambitious, but it’s not as if it’s
never happened before in Scotland’s top flight: picking up crucial points
without winning the pivotal derbies en route to the title.
Thing is, how Rangers have done towards
that regard since the Betfred League Cup loss to Celtic last month,  after which
Windass proffered this idea, doesn’t instill the requisite confidence to
send football bettors to the bookmakers window and spend their hard earned
quid. Tempting those football odds are though it’s a risky bet.
In that regard you could say Rangers
haven’t even taken the opportunity as and when it came. They went on to win
thrive and draw twice and lose once in the ensuing six fixtures.
Taking just 11 points from a potential 18,
recent form sees Rangers at W3, D2, L1 in their last six fixtures.
Consider Celtic look unstoppable behind W6, D0, L0 in their last six and,
overall, boast an undefeated mark with W11, D1, L0 on the season. Forget what
Rangers’ form is, if Celtic don’t let up from now until season end it won’t
matter if the Rangers win out.
It’s safe to assume, therefore, Rangers
are in fact a long shot bet for the Scottish Premiership title. Where they
might fancy their chance better – and more realistically in the context of
sports betting as well – for silverware in the Scottish Cup.
As it is, Rangers hang on 6.00 football
odds to lift the coveted trophy. Granted they aren’t the top bet but they are
the second-best bet after ..surprise, surprise,.. Celtic at 2.37. After this
tandem, though, the next best bet is Hearts at 15.00.
So Rangers fans do have
room for optimism.
