Rangers ready to welcome new addition to the squad

Mark Warburton has confirmed that utility midfielder/defender Matt Crooks is finally ready to make his debut for Rangers, nine months after the former Accrington man was ruled out of the game long term following a knee injury.

The 22-year old has yet to kick a ball in anger for Rangers’ senior team, but reportedly impressed in displays for Head of Development Graeme Murty’s youth teams with some composed displays in defence, and has now finally achieved full match fitness in readiness to make his long-awaited maiden bow.

It has been a long and frustrating road back for the former Huddersfield loanee, and Warbs said:

“Matt Crooks is available and will definitely play some part on Tuesday v Queens”

It seems Warburton is not quite ready to ‘risk’ the colossus in league endeavours just yet, but next week’s cup quarter will be the perfect stage for the holding midfielder to finally prove his quality in a Rangers shirt.

It is a very welcome return.

  1. Great news but he's been back for a while. Been hoping all along that he's the person were missing, want him and Wilson as the two centre backs and with gilks in goals. Nothing against foderingham, but we could do with an experienced keeper at the moment to organise the back line, and gilks isn't exactly a bad keeper to start with

    • We need TWO who are good in the air at set-pieces Stuart. Senderos is good in the air. Kiernan, Hill and Wilson are not. Matt Crooks is tall, we'll soon see if he is forceful and can jump. Hopefully he is. On the video evidence he looks a handy player on the deck and is a good passer of the ball.
Wilson has fairly good distribution, but plays the odd shocker that gets us in trouble. He is hopeless in the air.
Senderos, apart from his brainstorm, didn't do anything much wrong in the Celtic game. he wasn't at fault for any of the goals.
When you don't have TWO good players in the air, the opposition simply play it front or back into the "weak area".
Kiernan? There is nothing to say that hasn't been said enough times now.

  2. Barton spat at training FFS, sent home. Warbs talking gibberish in the press, Windass taking over as the mouthpiece from Barton. What a situation we have ourselves in.

  3. Will he be replacing Barton, sent home for fighting with team mates after going through them one by one for their performances last week.
Looks like we have to get him off the wage bill, makes you wonder if Warbs was actually involved in bringing him in.

He will be sitting at home counting his £30m per week for the next 2 years unless someone, Burnley?, comes in.

  4. Terminate Bartons contract n save £20k a week. hinks hes up here for a Holliday, seemingly not the first time it's happened n only here a cple of months anaw. He's been rank rotten plenty of cover in his position in crooks Halliday rossiter not needed!!
