Rumour mill; latest in and out report from Ibrox

With silly season well and truly upon us, Ibroxnoise.co.uk thought we would take our readers through a one-by-one in-and-out rota of which players are linked with a move into Ibrox, and which seem gone. Obviously there are a lot of names right now, so we will stick with some of the main ones, including the more tenuous.

Out:

David Templeton; League One outfit Bradford are linked with the 27-year old who is out of contract this summer. Mark Warburton does love a winger but evidently does not see Templeton as part of his plans, and it would take something akin to a miracle for the former Hearts man to be given a new deal in Govan. This is a signing that, for so many reasons, was an utter failure.

Nicky Clark; Been linked with a number of suitors, and it does look like Sandy’s lad will not be offered a new deal. A rare starter, he just has not cut it under any manager at Ibrox.

Nicky Law; He will never be a favourite under Warbs and it is time for the ex-Motherwell midfielder to move on.

In:

Ben Pringle
; 26 year old midfielder equally comfortable elsewhere in the front six, Pringle is currently on loan at Ipswich from Fulham, where he is contracted till summer next year, but seems regarded by the Championship side as more of an expendable utility player. Would cost a fee but not the earth, and if the Magic Hat does want his man, he will surely get the financial support to buy him.

Madjid Bougherra
; 33-years old now and out of contract in the summer, the former Rangers defender has issued the obligatory ‘come and get me’ plea. He did it a few years ago under McCoist’s management, claiming he would even play for free. Warburton does need a defender of his age, but one just cannot see him taking Magic up on his offer.

Jason Cummings
; This one still will not go away. With Hibs struggling to make the SPL and relying on the lottery of the playoffs, Rod Petrie will have to consider selling the family jewels should they fail, and the Cummings link to Ibrox with claims the player himself wants the move still will not dissipate.

Matthew Knox; After his stunning assist in the recent win for Livi at the Pasta Park, it is not hard to see why Mark Warburton wants the services of this highly-sought after teenager. A reported £75,000 bid was turned down with claims the Almondvale side want double that. This is definitely one Warbs wants over the line.

Greg Stewart; Rangers have been linked with this versatile forward for a good six months now, and there is no reason to believe it is a vacuous story. A former Rangers Academy attacker, the 26-year old striker has been setting the heather alight at Dens Park and the connection with Govan persists. He fits the mould of the kind of player the Magic Hat prefers.

Naturally the exit list includes the eight released today by Murray Park.

Expect many more of these in the coming weeks and months. Feel free to comment on who you want in, and out, in the usual place.

  1. Calm down I'd take Cummings in a heartbeat and bougherra he's exactly the kind of defender we need. And the problem with Cummings can someone please tell me . And don't give me this pish about him at some party

    • Cummings doesn't have the right character to succeed at Rangers. Flamboyantly confident and outspoken. He has the potential to be a good player but not good enough for the gers.

As for Bougherra you're right he's the type we're after but don't want to see us going back for players who played for us.

    • I think Baggy would be a perfect signing in all respects, He's Rangers, His Heart is there, He's solid and got the experience of a central defender rangers have been missing…

In a Heartbeat, And Cummings for Clarke anyday

  2. Not so fast with releasing Nikki Clark.I would be for keeping him. Anyone competing with Miller and Waghorn would be in a difficult position and considering his in and out disposition he has manned up to it very well in my estimation.

    • No way Alex, every time he comes on the park it weakens the team. His touch is poor, and positional sense isn't great either. He works hard but simply hasn't got the ability. I wish him well.

    • Clark is a League One striker at best. Offers nothing off the ball and is not versatile.

Nikki Clark? Is that his wife?

  3. Bougherra would bring strength at the centre of a very fragile defence, and he would also add attacking flair. Yes please.

  4. Is there any Dundee Utd talent that we could snap up?? That would rile Steve Thompson right up

  5. I would take cummings in a heartbeat. So what hes got any attitude hes very confident young player his attitude could easily be changed under the right guidance ie w+w ⚪️

  6. Jason Cummings is a talented player. With the right guidance he could turn into a top international player. Seen him several times and I would love to see him develop under WW next season.

  7. No to Cummings, yes to Boughie

There are no outstanding Scottish U21 players (McKay excluded) and watching Cummings play for U21 shows how average he is. Warbs will find better in English lower leagues.

As a Scotland fan I hope Cummings can improve but not for gers at the minute

  8. Bougherra is 33 and would demand a a high wage. A better and younger player will be sought. No thanks.

  9. Bougherra….interesting one this one…..i think we should see,how much he REALLY wants to play for the Gers again….Hes got what we need..no doubt about that….id see how much he wants..then take it from their…could maybe get him for a good price..worth the try..

  10. Clark has been offered a new deal, has been told he's nowhere near first choice, that other striker / strikers are coming but has been offered a new deal which I cannot understand given the fact that he's struggled to nail a place in his time with us. I hope he goes TBH

  11. How is it evident that David Templeton isn't part of Warburtons plans. You think Warbs will pick the winger even though he is injured?

  12. We need an old school defender who is over 30 that's a fact the type that doesn't mind being left out the team from time to time but can pass on his experience there is only one man that fits that bill imo and that's madjid bougherra.

  14. No No No to Boogie he is too old/slow he wouldnt be able to hack it anymore, get a younger fitter guy, I also hope we get the young chap from liverpool he looks decent, Dunno about the chap from Fulham?

  15. Gordon Greer anyone? He's impressed in games he's played for Scotland. Struggling for a game at Brighton now so might fancy a player-coach role at ibrox…
