Report: Rangers join queue for Premiership attacker?

Rangers have been linked with Ross County’s 23-year old Dutch striker Alex Schalk, according to (admittedly tenuous) reports.

The front man, who scored the winner for Ross County against Hibernian last weekend, comes from a well-bred stable of football education via the ranks of the Dutch Eredivise and sides like Breda and PSV, before finding himself settled this season in the Scottish Highlands with County.

The attacker is said to be attracting interest from various sides both north and south of the border, with Rangers supposedly in the queue, but famously said last month that Scotland is an effective wasteland of football and that teams ‘blindly’ hit the ball upfield with no thought for tactics – he is certainly not wrong there, but would find himself at home with Mark Warburton’s stubborn insistence for tactical football on the deck, should The Magic Hat be interested in acquiring his services.

The relative youngster is not County’s first-choice striker, but with Rangers certainly on the lookout for promising talent that fits with Warbs’ ethos, Schalk might just be one he and chief scout Frank McParland have their eyes on.

    • Its his half-sister to be fair to the guy.Never mind Schalk, get that big Jackson Irvine in.I thought he was excellent and that wee dowt McGinn never got a sniff because of him.I know we've big Crooks coming in but he ticks all the boxes for me BUT did play for the mhanky mob. Then again so did Kenny Miller.

  3. When you think of what Mark, Davie and Frank have done with last Summer's recruits it serves up a mouth watering expectancy on what might be coming our way in June. There will be many rumours for both coming and going but with the Trio's eye for talent, just sit back and relax with a smile on your face. I think we need very few changes for next season. We already have a team of winners who continue with a great work ethic in every game.

  4. getting better every week image what we ll be like next season be afraid timothy no surrender watp simply the best

  5. Dan Holman from Cheltenham is on Rangers scouting list. Two English championship clubs also keen. The 25yr old scored 4 goals in a 4-0 win at the weekend.

  6. Warbs may want tm develop his junior talent before splashing out loadsa cash on foreign second rate material
