Rangers’ Nicky Clark linked with departure to England

17

Rangers striker Nicky Clark has tonight been heavily linked with a move out of Ibrox to English League One’s Barnsley.

The 24 year old has found his opportunities at Ibrox perennially limited, and has never truly established himself in the first team for any length of time, including under Mark Warburton, and thus may be considered surplus.

With his deal expiring this summer, the fee Rangers could command for an immediate sale would be fairly modest, but nevertheless with Martyn Waghorn, Kenny Miller and Ryan Hardie on Rangers’ books, despite his regular appearances as a sub, Clark is considerably down Rangers’ pecking order.

Barnsley currently sit a lowly 17th in League One, and are in dire need of goals to hike them up the table, and evidently see Clark as a potentially low-cost solution to their problems.

We will see in due course what transpires of this story.

  1. Why do all the ' new' English players get a start for the team & good Scottish players such as Clark & Miller find themselves on the bench ,at best?

    • Very good idea though with the information that is coming to light in the court case involving Whyte, Green et al it appears that the new club has been formed and moved through the divisions using the proceeds of crime. I am not sure what the implications will be for the licence the club got to compete but it certainly looks like the tradition of not being prepared to compete on a level playing field has been passed down from Rangers (IL)

    • Don't be daft, who cares what they say, I'm happy if we play well and win well, don't care about flak mate.

  2. I would be sad to see him go without a sustained run in the team. I feel he has goals in him.

But it is very hard to argue with The Magic Hat, given the transformation of the team, the squad, the playing style and the atmosphere at Ibrox generally under his leadership. And I am certainly not going to be the person to do it:-)

    • The same Magic Hat that is struggling to break clear at the top of the championship despite having a budget at least 4 times any of his rivals?

  3. He's one of those players that's found it harder to play for us than against us.I bet he bangs them in wherever he goes once the pressure is off him.He can't say he's not had a chance.Best of luck to the boy.

  4. I would like warbs 2 sound out ex loanee
Remi street(newcastle). The boy did look a player& seems to be over his injury problems.
Ashley might be a problem! Anyone agree.

  5. Would be sorry to see Nicky go. Might not have been as prolific when he was with QofS but always gave his all for the jersey. Still feel he will come good ……but happy to trust MW!

  6. Agree with Tam Burns,, it takes a special player to rise and enjoy the challenge to play for Rangers. To work hard for 95 mins and run through brick walls for the team whilst absorbing the pressure and expectations that the club and fans demand. Good luck to Nicky if this is the case,, however, I feel Warbs has been playing him to show him off in the shop window for January. Hope Nicky Law stays, he's been solid in that midfield since his return.

    • have to disagree I would rather see Clark staying he has always gave his all more than you can say about Law no heart even though he has played a bit better since he came back ,but he is not the player to keep.

  7. Hey if those clowns Mr W Mr G are found guilty, for fraudulently buying Rangers then selling it on then they could not sell the club and we do not own it,i fear they all will go,is this true,if Mr Green be found guilty it’s likely that Ibrox Stadium and Murray Park would be transferred from Sevco to BDO who are attempting to recover as much money as possible for the hundreds of creditors including Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs and a number of public bodies.
    i hope not

    • Yes I understand what you're saying but don't worry old chap as worbs will just have to use his MAGIC HAT ..
