Report: Rovers star to join Ibrox on a free

Rangers have today been strongly linked with a free transfer next month of Doncaster Rovers’ midfield playmaker Harry Forrester.

According to some reports, the 24 year old was at Ibrox yesterday to take in Rangers’ comfortable 4-2 victory over visitors Hibernian, and is set to become the latest recruit to Mark Warburton’s Rangers Revolution, with further claims he has undertaken a medical at Murray Park.

The Rovers attack-minded midfielder has a clutch of caps for England at the youth levels, and with 8 goals in 52 appearances at the Keepmoat Stadium is not shy of a goal or two, and manager Warbs knows him well from their time at Griffin Park together.

This particular signing, if true, is certainly a puzzling choice with the one position at Ibrox that is rich with choices being attacking midfield, with Jason Holt, Nicky Law, Gedion Zelalem, Dean Shiels and even Andy Halliday all available for selection in that berth, but with Rangers top of the table and looking to have stemmed the tide of inconsistent form of recent times by dispatching Hibs, few would argue with Warburton’s judgement if he is indeed interested in capturing the playmaker.

We will see if this one comes to pass.

  1. Zelalem won't be there next year. There is a good chance neither will Law or Shiels, unless one of them shows something great in next 5 months. Halliday is versatile, so 3 people for 2 jerseys is a good idea.

Having said that, I agree that in 6 months we might find someone better, but at 24, he is also a little older, so brings some stability compared to the kids.

    In the Hat we trust

  2. I believe Law has asked to be allowed to move on in the January window. Something about Warbs presser today seemed to hint at it. Probably wrong though.

  3. Was surprised to see the game on Monday wasn't a compete sell out hibs had 84 seats spare. Shows how bad their supporters are, even on points with us and a hour away on the train P.S probably couldn't afford the busfares WATp

  4. Gers should keep Nicky Law much more direct than Zelalem and Nathan and can score goals for us starting to come into form now.

  5. Its been a good season so far and hopefully we will win this league. But to progress/ win in the Scottish Premiership we need experienced players not youngsters.

    • According to the Daily Rebel Harry Forrester is a striker can only be good business to get him for free.Have faith in the "loaf"

  6. According to the Daily Rebel Harry Forrester is a striker and if we get him for free it will be good business by the "loaf"

  7. Harry Forrester is a right footed, left winger. He likes to cut inside for shots on goal. Was highly rated whilst at Brentford but made the wrong career move going to Doncaster. Oduha has lost his spark since the battering he received against Livingston. Forrester will allow Mckay to be played on his preferred right side with Waghorn through the middle. Good move for Rangers.

  8. This boy is an ex under 17 England international and was chased by Man U and Tottenham as a kid and turned down a move to Ajax for Brentford. Never panned out but he obviously has something. P.S he isn't a forward or a winger he is a central attacking mid…worth a punt

  9. harry forrester is currently trying to buy out his own contract as rangers wont pay a fee as their skint,,,stick to facts and ask why dec bonus,s are not in bank,,in king we trust, hahhaha
