End of the Ibrox road for Cammy Bell?

With Rangers confirmed as taking giant Polish goalkeeper Maciej Gostomski on trial from Lech Poznan, it near-confirms the end of his Rangers career for one Cammy Bell.

The one-time Scotland cap never convinced at Ibrox, and despite his impressive displays for ex-club Kilmarnock which catapulted him into the Scotland reckoning, he has been completely unable to replicate that form in Govan, before a reported shoulder injury during pre-season curtailed his time in Glasgow’s south side entirely.

His underwhelming displays were maybe somewhat exaggerated by his disastrous flap in the playoffs at Fir Park when he was beaten by a speculative lob and managed to fall into the net along with the ball, but that incident highlighted how he failed to stamp himself on the Club.

Furthermore with injury ruling him out till next year at the earliest, one suspects this trial is to appoint a senior deputy to first-choice Wes Foderingham to replace youth stopper Liam Kelly who has warmed the bench this season.

It must be pointed out Bell has not made a single match-day squad since Warburton took charge, having also undergone surgery to try to get to the root of the injury problems plaguing him, but with his manager having insisted the ex-Rugby Park star would return imminently, it appears Warburton was simply protecting the player from scrutiny.

Unfortunately for Rangers Bell is on a four-year deal with one and a half years remaining (it expires summer of 2017) and any departure would have to be ‘mutual consent’.

  1. He's RANK. Should never had been given the privilage of pulling on the jersey. Weak at crosses. Rubbish shot stopper. Terrible distribution with ball at his feet and injury prone. Get rid

  2. Not any worse than any of the other players acquired by McCoist and McDowall. problem is that the players that arrived under McCoist generally deteriorated under his guidance and lack of coaching ability.

  3. I agree,, Bell is rank,,,Fody boy isnt that great either,, nowhere near the Andy Goram and Chris Woods quality. Hopefully this new lad shines.. January is going to be interesting for our club,,we need a solid spine from back to front,,and will somebody shut kenny millar up to f*ck,, he has been a mouth piece since he came back to ibrox, talking is cheap,,get the fuck out there and start scoring goal, instead of "learning from defeat",,what a lot of pish,,

    • your views are the reason mark warburton is manager and you're not,,,kenny always speaks from his heart,,,you speak from your arsehole,,,miserable tosser..

  4. Foderingham is solid. Bell is not. To the above: are we going to be able to afford a Goram or Woods right now? Nope. Be realistic.

  5. Well I liked Bell when he came to Rangers. I just think some player let playing for Rangers go to there head!! They must think that they have made it and don't have to try hard anymore!!
He should look at Goram and Klos who tried hard every game. Being a Rangers player never went to their heads.

  6. Kenny Miller speaks from the heart??!!,, Talking a good game is not what we need right now,,and that is all he is doing,,its the same shit that comes out of players mouths,,, They need to find the dig on the park again, instead of trying to walk the ball into the net,,,, this line "Learn from it" is all well and good, but we have lost so many goals this season, because we havent learned!!,, Honestly, look at all of Rangers goals lost this season and you will see the pattern of what we havent learned!,they are the same mistakes!!, I'm worried about the next few months,, we are on the decline and the results show that,,hibs,, livingston and a draw, near defeat at ibrox from morton,, once again,,making those other teams look good. Worrying times ahead, unless it changes!!
