Rangers star dismisses Hibs’ slurs

Rangers’ striker Martyn Waghorn has launched a subtle broadside at Championship rivals Hibs by dismissing their publicly quoted spats at his side.

The leading goalscorer at Ibrox laughed off the repeated slurs from the likes of Alan Stubbs and Jason Cummings and suggested Rangers will do their talking on the park rather than off it.

The former Wigan man said:

“They have been having their digs and saying things in the papers. It was just important we bounced back in the right way and showed our quality on the pitch rather than in the papers. They can say what they want but we know how good we are and we’re going to build on that.”

The Easter Road outfit most certainly have been giving lip service to what Rangers are doing, and spurred on by their narrow win in the recent top of the table clash between the two have clearly been inspired to have a few little select aimed soundbites at Warburton’s men.

As with the usual Rangers’ dignity though, the response is restrained and tempered.

  1. We are a country mile ahead of hibs as a football team and they know it hence them trying every trick in the book to unsettle us, it reeks of sheer desperation and it makes me smile. We played them off the park at Easter road and they got lucky, the tims without the busfare should just be ignored as we will do the talking on the pitch WATP

    • "As with the usual Rangers’ dignity though, the response is restrained and tempered." this reply is a great example of that 🙂

    • Played us off the park at ER!!! You had more possession but every other stat went to Hibs, like shots at goal, shots on target and most importantly goals scored.

  2. Like what you say I just cant wait till we meet them again just go out and hump them ,that will keep them shut up.

  3. Could you please get on the case about Kevin Nolan from the hammers , I know he is a free agent he would be a great asset to our squad.

  4. I totally agree about Kevin Nolan, he would be a great signing, was gutted when I heard it was only a rumour that he was coming

  5. Are you having a laugh,,,Kevin Nolan?,, He is 33 years of age!!!,,, FFS,,get a grip,, we need young, athletic, profitable winners in our team,, he aint any of that,, As for Hibs, they are a threat, regardless what anybody said,, we had the chances at easter road, but nobody took them!!,, hence we need a quality striker that can finish with deadly and unforgiving venom,, we need to crush teams more with goals,, especially hibs,, I have nothing but respect for Warbs and Weir,,but they started with the wrong team against hibs,,they went defensive and McKay bottled it, got nothing from him when we needed a big player on the day,, We need a quality centre half, centre midfielder and striker,,, backbone!!

  6. Respectfully, it was just another 3 points for Hibs and was quickly forgotten about as the mauling of Dundee United 3 days later and the hammering of St Mirren at the weekend proved.
