Rangers installed as SPL title favourite for next season

13

Ladbrokes (the SPFL’s main sponsor) are now offering a tempting 7/1 for Rangers to win next season’s SPL at the first time of asking.

Joint second favourites with Aberdeen, and naturally Celtic being favourites (1/4), the price is a very enticing punt for those who believe Mark Warburton’s men are capable of not only challenging at the very top of the SPL next season, but outright winning the Premier League title at the first time of asking following promotion.

With Derek McInnes’ men having a stellar season (8 wins of 8 and top of the table by a clear five points) they are more than worthy of being second favourites for next season, but it is the potentially promoted Rangers who are now up there alongside them as second favourites to take the SPL crown next season.

It is a testament to the impact Mark Warburton has had at Ibrox, and the inevitable resources he will have at his disposal next season (should Rangers achieve promotion) that the league sponsors now have his Rangers machine as one of the outright title favourites.

  1. With a few more players in I would fancy our chances no problem ,for what I have seen with the SPL has been a lot of shite .

  2. Wo wo whoa.. We need to slow down and not pile the pressure on our lads. I for one am happy with qualifying for europe and a top half finish next season. That would be a good season. If we won the SPL on first ask brilliant, but that should not be the expectation. Warbs knows that getting back to European competition is a priority both developmentally and for income reasons. We could of course win the Scottish Cup this season and head straight into Europe, stranger things can happen.

  3. We will need to see a couple of quality players arrive if we are to challenge for the SPL next season. Guys like Law and Shiels are not good enough to win us the league and we will lose the Arsenal and Spurs midfielders which is unfortunate because with a second season at Rangers these two would probably be the best in teh League.

  4. What a magnificent appointment we made today by appointing our 9 in a row legendary captain richard(the lion heart) gough as the new rangers global ambassador, the guy is a gentleman & total thoroughbred, big goughie epitomises everything you would expect from a total rangers man and legend of our wonderful institution that's called glasgow rangers, good luck big goughie in your new job,an amazing appointment as far as I'm concerned!

  5. I go home and away every week and our fans are living in cuckoo land …lets get promoted 1st and take it slow and steady ….we should be happy to finish top 6 and then move on from there if we go up …..Time for a reality check …..

  6. If we get in 5 class players we can certainly challenge Celtic next season and although warbs has assembled a good team on a budget I feel we will need to spend at least 8 million and doubt king will even give the hat 2 million WATP

  7. After tonight we will need to find some fast center backs,Wilson and Kiernan looked as if they had lead in their boots, we have been caught like that a few times.

  8. Likely that Celtic will be going for 6 in a row next year………we will need to spend millions to catch up with them, anyone thinking different should have a look back at Tuesday's game.

The defence is abysmal, midfielders were hiding, and I was less than impressed with the 2 loan players………step overs don't win you games!

There was no plan B and better teams that ST Johnstone will take us apart.

£12m required to get us to the end of the season………Where's the cash coming from. There will be no more monies from the 3 Bears, it's clear that they have had enough of King and his promises.

If Green ring fences what little monies we have in the bank then admin 2 could be upon us within a couple of weeks.

The £12m required doesn't include repayment of either the 3 Bears loans or Ashley.

Level 5 have so far shifted the agenda in the media towards on the field success, all very well.

However last year's accounts will show losses north of £10m and the ST monies won't last for ever.

And by all accounts Taylor wants his personal loan to King to be repaid proto.

  9. 5 class players……….Whose going to pay for that?

King? Pull the other one, he still owes Taylor the money he borrowed to buy his shareholding and if that doesn't cause concern I don't know what will.

Doomed I tell you, we are doomed……..
