Report: Rangers dismiss McCulloch for coaching position

12

Andy Newport, widely-respected
reporter for the Press Association, has today claimed Rangers have dismissed
all reports of former captain Lee McCulloch returning to the Club in any
coaching capacity.
The former Motherwell and Wigan
stalwart had been mooted for a role within Rangers’ youth setup, but Newport today sought to
confirm Rangers will not be proceeding with this course of action.
He said, very simply:

“Lee McCulloch will not be returning to
Rangers as a coach.”
If Newport’s information is
correct, it may force the conclusion “Big Jig” has now made a u-turn on his reported
decision to reject Kilmarnock gaffer Gary Locke’s offer of an assistant manager
role, in light of Rangers apparently dismissing any notion of a return to Ibrox
for the former skipper in such a role.
There was the notion of a
position within the youth setup for the utility man, but with all those roles
effectively filled, it would appear Mark Warburton and David Weir do not have
any vacancy they wish McCulloch to use.

  1. News doesn't get any better than this Fantastic , don't think I could hack seeing another Jig

  2. Nothing personal against McCulloch, but my natural reaction when I read this was…Yippee!!!

  3. I have it on good authority that he's going to open a stripclub in Glasgow, called Big Jig's Jugs.

  4. But Newport didn't say that McCulloch wouldn't be returning as Director of Football.. 😉

    • good point theres always hope this man among men was truely an ibrox legend not like kenny miller

  5. Anyone know why he's called Big Jig? It's a very exotic nickname for a footballer, but then the two standard nicknaming methods of the footballing world wouldn't work in his case – there's something not right about McCullochy or McCullocho. I guess a whole new type of nickname had to be invented for him. Interesting.

  6. Had a look at the photos from today's coaching sessions, and good to see the professionalism of guys like Walsh and Law when the group was doing their running sessions. Cracking jokes and generally taking the piss out of the whole routine. As good a young player as Walsh is, he needs to be taken down a peg or two by some of the older ones in my opinion. The problem with the McCoist era was that we not only had a team of comedians in the dressing room, but also on the training field – which resulted in epic fucking comedy every match day.

  7. Best news I've heard all year …thanks jig and all the best for the future …..You will now be welcomed back anytime as a fan like us ….you gave your all but time has caught up with you ….

  8. Captain and passenger in the worst sorry lot in Gers history. Made millions off us when he would otherwise have been on the broo….

He and all the other bastards of the past 3 years can fuck right off.

While I'm at it, the old boys club 9 in a row guys are welcome in the hospitality suites but should be given a fucking training tracksuit…Durranty included….naw Durranty especially.

    • ***Shouldn't be given a fuckin tracky.
