Petrofac Cup; Rangers get Ayr United

5

Rangers have been drawn away to
Ayr United in the second round of the Petrofac Cup.
The draw, carried out today at
14:30 saw the Northern and Southern sections of the draw performed by former
Rangers midfielder Charlie Miller.
There were notions of Rangers
getting another clash with recently demoted Premiership side St Mirren, but instead
it will be a trip to Somerset
Park to face fellow
former Rangers midfielder Ian McCall’s League 1 outfit.

McCall’s side finished an
unconvincing 8th in the table last season, and will be far from
favourites for this tie, albeit they do have home advantage.
Rangers also entertained The
Honest Men at Murray
Park this pre-season and
managed a comfortable 2-0 victory.
Mark Warburton will certainly be
hoping for more of the same again, if not better and one cannot help wondering
if a Mr Scott Allan will have been secured by the time this tie is played.

  1. Games and more games. That's what this young squad needs now. We need as many as possible of the squad turning out in meaningful games. What was it the Gaffer said? 'Quality football played at a high tempo', I believe. Loving it, I am. Onward and upward.
    C'mon the Gers!

  2. Feet firmly on the ground,, Our team showed vurnerability in the first 40 minutes at easter road,, they still need to gel ,, be patient with them, but the signs are encouraging and i like Warbutons conduct in front of tv,, He quite an honest man, and knows his football,, and how good is it seeing David Weir,, he still is a presence in the box, albeit its the technical box,,keep the good work up lads,, your impressing well,,

    • Yes i agree we could have been down 3-0 in the first 30 mins would we have come back from that?the hibs players where not fit enough to keep that pace going and fell apart after 40mins i still think its going be a long hard road ahead
