Eustace & Rangers ‘trial’ each other, Foderingham signs

14

Rangers have today confirmed the
signing on a three-year deal of former Swindon
Town and Fulham goalkeeper Wes
Foderingham, and a month’s trial (for both sides) of former Derby County
midfielder John Eustace at Murray
Park.
The addition of Foderingham will
see competition for current number one Cammy Bell, whose inconsistent displays
last season attracted certain levels of criticism, or indeed manager Mark Warburton
may have earmarked the 24-year old as a replacement for the ex-Killie stopper,
who could conceivably be demoted to deputy.

The Eustace scenario, however, is
bizarre – rarely do players trial the club they are training at, with trials
tending to be the host running the rule over the player in question. In this
case Rangers’ press release is curious;
“Both sides to make further and proper
assessments (of each other).”
In other words, Eustace is
trialing Rangers as much as the club are trialing him, and with fitness doubts
being a concern at Rangers’ end the club are insuring against it being a
problem;
“This extra time will also allow the Club’s
medical experts and coaching staff scope to study John’s fitness levels before
any agreement can become binding.”
Nothing wrong with being
thorough, but it is not a frequent occurrence to see such a statement about a
player who is training at Murray Park (or anywhere else), and the ‘audition’,
if we can articulate it that way, seems to be Eustace testing the club as much as it is him.

  1. Great to have signed what looks like a very decent keeper, Bells never been Rangers quality.
Eustace though? nah if he's not up for signing leave him we need players who want to play for us.

  2. The marquee signing just keep coming.

At least the Warbmeister will be allowed some time to settle in………90 minutes against Hibs to be precise and if the mixture of new blood plus those remaining from last year's disaster fail to overcome the Hibees then the knives will be out for the new manager and the board that's brought him in.

    Fact

    • No he hasn't anything to do because he has finished checking up on the marquee signings the mhanky mob are making their board are really shelling oot fortunes aren't they

    • You really must evaluate your lifestyle. Ask yourself why you concern yourself with Rangers matters to the point of obsession. Reflect on your upbringing and be honest. Through no fault of your own you have been emotionally damaged. Try to rationalise your emotions to what is, after all, a game. I wish you good fortune. Please be aware of parasites of the game who make their living from stimulating hatred. Phil, Bill, James etc. We can exist and flourish in an atmosphere of mutual respect and competition.

  3. While I will give Warburton the benefit of doubt that he knows a player better than me, I am afraid to say if Eustace even has to come on trial to us then it is a case of on your way sunny john, now unless Eustace is a belter of a player then fair enough but we are led to believe Warburton has great contacts in the game then surely he can find an experienced player around the 28 to 30 year old category for the holding midfielder role, not one at 35 who has been injured for 6 months but as I say I will give our manager benefit of doubt just now

  4. Dam right he's gonna get benefit of doubt . Let's get behind him and have trust . Witch i really do understand is hard for us to do . After so much shite we've had to put up with for way to long. But am telling you things are going in the right direction.let's keep it going three in and more to follow I'm sure

  5. I'd like to see the entire squad reach the same level of fitness as Rob Kiernan. His rippling physique puts many others in the squad to shame. When he stood next to Danny Wilson for the photo-shoot it looked like Rocky Balboa standing next to Bonnie Prince Charlie. Please get some more muscle definition Danny lad.

  6. Great we're getting Jig back!!!!!
Forget the odd wee mistake or how much he snouted the troff, the other teams will hate this and that's good enuff for me.
