Shane Ferguson to miss playoffs

Shane Ferguson to miss playoffs

After a great deal of speculation
over his potential to feature in the playoffs, the most initially high-profile
member of the “Newcastle Five”, Shane Ferguson, looks set to miss the remainder
of the season, and thus fail entirely to even appear for Rangers’ first team.
With his knee injury sustained at
Newcastle still
giving him issues, he is reportedly not going to be involved with today’s
crucial trip to Palmerston, pouring serious cold water over earlier claims from
Stuart McCall that he might.

The Rangers manager stated almost
a month ago (14th April) that Ferguson
would not be available within a fortnight, which was an optimistic projection
of having him by the end of the month.
Ferguson has
played for Ian Durrant’s development side, as recently as 27th of
April, but his continued exclusion from the senior side does force the serious
probability Shane Ferguson will never play for Rangers.
Rangers’ statement on the subject
as recently as a week ago is thus:
“Ferguson
is still working towards full fitness.”
Does not seem that he will attain
it at Ibrox.

  1. He might well be back next season since it would appear likely that he will be no where near the level of match fitness that would be needed to play in the EPL. Personally I would hope that this would be the case and would like to think that Vuckic will also be back at Rangers for the new season!

  2. Would take Vuckic back in a heart beat, hopefully to sign him on a free next summer 🙂

Any of the others would have to be assessed on what they can offer us. Rather than the completely obscure idea someone had in January, when 3 of them were unfit. 1 at least made an appearance before hitting the treatment table.
