Ferguson may debut v Hearts

With Northern Irish winger Shane
Ferguson now fully match-fit, it had been speculated the Newcastle
loanee may make the bench last Saturday for the visit of Falkirk.
As it transpired he was absent
from the match-day squad, but with badly-needed attacking options something of
a premium at Ibrox these days, there is a real feeling the controversial deal
in January which saw five loanees travel north from St James’ to Ibrox may bear
its second piece of fruit with Ferguson featuring against Hearts.

The 23 year old forward was the
most lauded of all the names brought in as part of the deal, and manager Stuart
McCall has suggested there is a very real chance Ferguson will feature in the
playoffs.
However with a bad result v the
Bairns fresh in the memory, and Rangers struggling to carve out good chances
during that 90 minutes, McCall may wish to call upon the services of Ferguson slightly earlier
than anticipated.
On him he said almost three weeks
ago:
“Shane’s been out for five months but
the good thing about him is his mental state. I spoke to him on Monday and I
was really impressed. Do I get the impression he is he is here to play? Yes,
definitely. I liked the way he was talking, he wants to get straight into it.
He’s a naturally fit lad and he seems really focused too, so that was pleasing.
He trained really hard on Monday and on Tuesday and he’s on his way to a quick
recovery, which would be positive news for us. If our Under-20 game (against Dundee United on Tuesday) had not been on astro turf, he
might have got an hour under his belt. But if you’ve been out that long you’re
going to need four to six weeks to get back on track. So he certainly won’t be
ready in the next two weeks but hopefully he will play his part in the back end
of the season
.”
And that may well begin this
weekend.

  1. Might cost the Gers if he does play in respect of any fees payable to Newcastle for the 5 players. If we are due them 500k for the 5 if we get promoted. By my reckoning that must be contested and at the very least 100k a man if they play.

Not sure how it will pan out, obviously…

100k for Vuckic… Still represents value.
    100k for Steele…..45 mins…..no deal
    100k each for the 2 who haven't featured…no dice
100k for Ferguson ….playing against Hearts and the play offs…if that's the case it's worthy of consideration if we're convinced he'll make the difference….
