Stuart McCall: “Vuckic is returning to Newcastle”

Slovenian forward Haris Vuckic
has once again pled with Rangers to make his stay in Scotland a permanent one, but
manager Stuart McCall has doused the notion of him losing focus or staying at Ibrox.
Vuckic reiterated his pleasure at
how things are going in Scotland:

“I’m really enjoying playing football. At Newcastle I didn’t have
that chance. In football people can forget you quickly. So I’m really enjoying
it at the moment and playing well. We will see what Newcastle have to say. Rangers would be a
good option for me because I’m really enjoying my football here. This is the
happiest I have been for a while with my football because I am playing every
week. As a player, that is all you want. To show people that you are good. If I
go back to play Under-21 games with Newcastle
I would go even further back. I want to play first-team football.”
But McCall was unmoved by this
and has suggested the on-loan Newcastle
attacker is not thinking about next season and will return to St James’ as arranged:
“Haris is fully focused in this moment in
time in doing his best for this club and that is how he would be regardless of
who he is playing for. He still has a year left on his contract at Newcastle United, which
is a fantastic football club and it would be disrespectful of him, which he
hasn’t, to talk about what might happen next season. He has enjoyed his time
here and he’s played ever so well for us but all his focus is on up to when his
loan period finishes. He then goes back and becomes a Newcastle United player.”
There is no question Vuckic has
spoken about his ambitions, but his manager is clearly keen to keep his mind on
the job at hand. Sadly, he might not be similarly keen to keep him at the club, despite his form.
Something the Slovenian clearly wants.

  1. Haris Vuckic has been the only positive thing to come out of this Mike Ashley and his cronies pantomime and Rangers should fight tooth and nail to keep this talented young player . If he is allowed to go back to Newcastle he will probably end up back in the reserves which would be a crying shame . The lad just wants to be appreciated for his football talents and he will not get that in Newcastle.

  2. I think it will be the Ashley and King who will decide what happens no matter what McCall wants. Would be surprised if he didn't want him though but he is just stating the obvious in that comment.

  3. You would have too be thick as Mince not too see wee Stu is trying too keep the boy focussed , AND keep N/ U sweet . I have said before Ashley will not do us a turn , so personally i am enjoying seeing the boy play for us , ………..but not expecting anything from N/Castle . I have no doubt the kid would like to stay or that we wopuld take him in a heartbeat ?………..but he,s a N/U player we should not forget that , as there is at present no way around it .

  4. we sure need to get the fat man out of ibrox as soon as poss,,hes nothing but a money grabber, just look at newcastle they are just a piggy bank for the fat man,,wake up newcastle supporters,,

  5. Well if he does sell him to Celtic, he might as well sell SD with him, which neither i think will happen, that guy still hankers for the Champions League which will never come to Newcastle.

  6. Vuckic is saying what he has to say so he doesn't upset either us or Newcastle and close any doors. We are just a safety net for him incase he doesn't get anything better. If a better offer comes up he will be off like a rat up a drainpipe.

  7. To Anon 16:02,, If Ashley wouldn't do us a turn,, You wouldnt be watch Vuckic in the first place!, albeit the other 4 are injured duds…. Murray and King are nobodys fools. They are still making investigations over all contracts, so give them time to prepare and publish a report. Every game to us is now a cup final. Last nights game Queen of the South played as if their lives depended on it, we didnt!! Its still in our hands and I will be roaring our team on till the end and I'm sure you guys will be the same. As for Vuckic, he is a breath of fresh air and would very much like him in the team next season,,
