Sports Direct force Rangers to ‘launch’ new kit early

The Rangers & Sports Direct
saga took another twist today when Mike Ashley’s company forced Rangers to ‘launch’
their 2015/2016 kit significantly earlier than the Club would normally do so.
The Newcastle United tycoon and
major Rangers shareholder’s website this morning put out next season’s Puma kit
as a pre-order, forcing Rangers to similarly launch it on the Club’s official
Twitter account, but it can only be pre-ordered through Sports Direct’s own
site, rather than the Rangers Megastore.

The latter has been well and
truly ‘trumped’ by this sneaky move, with links on the official site pertaining
to the new kit, but only linking to the current season’s gear.
Sports Direct have caught Rangers
cold.
The only place to pre-order,
ridiculously, is Ashley’s outlet.
Interim chairman Paul Murray has
been on record as saying Rangers are happy to work with Ashley, but this move
is yet another twist which suggests a partnership between the two bodies is
astoundingly remote, not including the fact Ashley refuses to meet with the
board on any level.

  1. Unfortunately as we all know the club has to buy all the stock whether the punters order them or not. The only way out of this would be to beg (a man called Michael). Not the Rangers way. WATP!!!

    • vote him and labour out when we get the chance soon, hes just a big mouth like the rest of labour just full of shit,,

    • If its alive or dead, answer is Donohoe, if its a clown answer is dead parrot, if its uselessness then no odd man out. So the answer must be Coco because the other answers are all wrong. Right? But wait Donohoe is a clown and could be dead for all the difference he's made. Stupid question, sorry.

    • it is dead easy to do something about this, DONT BUY IT. Instead give the money to Rangers through buying programmes or like, something that the money that you spend will go to Rangers.

    • Do you just ignore inconvenient truths (see my point above) or are you just a mentally defective? Make it easy for you. Rangers need to pay whether supporters buy or not. That clear enough dopey?

    • Its actually in the big print. Some have claimed such a provision is illegal but this is nonsense. Its a crazy condition to sign off on but there are zillions of examples of this in other contracts. We are stuffed.

  2. The attempted takeover by Ashley was hostile, the moves by the Three Bears to gain control were hostile, so unfortunately there will be many more moves like this until Ashley is gone. His power has been considerably watered down and he's resorted to dirty little tactics with replica shirts. Why is a man of his means not using his wealth to make easy money in the stock markets? Who knows, but this is not a savvy businessman. Just a clown who got lucky selling bulk sports socks to neds.

    • Do you just ignore inconvenient truths (see my point above) or are you just a mentally defective? Make it easy for you. Rangers need to pay whether supporters buy or not. That clear enough dopey? Still think he's a clown?

    • I agree 100 % with that !..fkd if i can see any of this "CLEVER " businessman crap ! …………..he is a FAT prk .

    • If Mr A is a poor businessman, why was he allowed to buy into us, why is our new saviour not sorting this out, where r u Mr K.
      J

  3. Ogilvie thwarted! Hearts game put back to Saturday. Preserves the dignity of the club and the SPFL. cAMPBELL ALWAYS WAS A TOSSPOT.

  4. You truly are thick if you think Ashley is not 'savvy' as you say.All the 3 bearsies have to do is pay him the £27m to walk away and we know that aint happening. He will leave your new club viable, but a return to spending OTM will never happen.

    • The 5m is realistic and has the security of Ibrox etc but this was intended to be one pf many erroneous loans by the corrupt previous board. Now they have gone and Fat Mick doesnt have many shares left. The 3 bears watered his power down and this 27m figure is pure fantasy. The Rangers are back on the right path. Forget this mug playing games with a shirt release.

  5. The sale of new strips will be the least of rangers problems if mcoll insist on playing jig fucking nightmare playing Miller bringing on Boyd Is he blind taxi for mcoll WATP

  6. I keep seeing the figure £27m getting bandied about, would someone mind explaining how the above poster arrived at that figure ? My understanding based on what I've read is that only £5m was owed to Ashley

    • Its not just to pay off the 5M, it’s the calculated value of all the revenue Ashley is due from all his contracts over the next few years. The originator of this was a city accountant who gave the figure to a well known blogger who claimed that for 27M Ashley would surrender all his contracts and go away. Personally I think he would also want recompensed for his shares since they have lost value since King called for the season ticket boycott so that would be upwards of 30 by now, but not by much.

    • Really Calvin? I respect your opinion but would rather wait for the outcome of the forensic analysis currently being undertaken. 'originator a city accountant', 'well-known blogger', 'would surrender all his contracts', 'also want compensated for his shares'. Hearsay and assumptions.

  7. The problem Billy Turner 14:25 is that although RFIC owes MASH £5m, MASH has got his mitts on almost anything else that generates revenue at Ibrox, ergo the price oft-quoted to buy him out is £27m. That way RFIC get Rangers Retail etc. back into its ownership. The problems is that we are fed rubbish from the media and its only sites like this where you get any glimmer of the truth. Paying him £5m, still means he has a dripping roast in Rangers.

  8. lets see a bit of fight off the park. (not a lot on it) These Ashley contracts must be challenged. Puts 2 of his sycophants on the board and then negotiates with himself effectively. If any chance of overturning them lets take him on in court.

    • You Dumbo. Game set and match, just read (above) Calvin Knox and others. Heidstane. Pollute this platform for informed intelligent opinion. Get a grip or fuck off.

    • Presume both of you gents are well versed in contract law. Your moronic interaction with other posters probably indicates not. Try to supress your anger management problems and participate in civilised debate. Believe that Mr King stated that all contracts would be forensically examined. That would indicate to me that there may be some prospect of litigation? You are entitled to form opinions based on 'above', but have some respect for the opinion of others. Cyber morons debase the free flow of discussion.

    • Wit a prick Wharton! who the fcuk is calvin. did you believe the antics of the bash street kids as well.

  9. I would drop big McCulloch in a heartbeat McCall if he's there next season which I honestly hope he is. He can't give him a new contract but he'll probably get 1 out of loyalty which u can't knock him for. He stuck with us but then again I doubt he had team's Chapin at his door looking for his services. He had old pal's act behind him for way too long. McCall shouldn't have put him back in. Quicker this season over the better and hopefully get a couple haf decent players in the summer but they'll probably won't be spending any money. Would love to sign at least 2 of Newcastle boys but I just can't see it happening

  10. we need to boycott s/d not just for our new strips but for anything the fatone sells. I, like many other bears have plenty old tops. Rangers will never affect his income but we don't need to increase it. After last nights fantastic result might be a good thing to stay in the league we are in and give him even less income. WATP

  11. Stop me if I'm wrong but my understanding is that once the £5m owed to Ashley is paid back, the 25% of rangers retail he took as security reverts back to rangers as well as the securities over Murray park! the Albion car park, our registered trademarks ie badges, crests , mascot and the shirts sponsorship money, leaving Ashley with only 50% of rangers retail and his onerous retail contracts, which according to the new board we are currently investigating and are hoping to either void or renegotiate.
We may have to live with his retail contracts till they expire, if that's the case then so be it but they can be renegotiated by people who have rangers best interests at heart once they expire instead.
That in my humble opinion is far better outcome than paying that fat prick £27m up front to get rid of him which is more money than the entire club was bought for by green and more money that was stolen from ticketus

    • Except…
Without further investment, payroll will be missed this month.
And the £5m LFA is already in default (Ashley demanded repayment when Llambias was kicked off the board which he was entitled to do) and the boards had 7 days to come up with the dough.
      Which they haven't.
He can pull the plug at any time, now.
The only reason he hasn't is that he doesn't need to: He will sue King personally to get the shareholders recompense for the delisting.
When April payroll comes due, unless the board get some finance quick through another last ditch loan (and they haven't had alot of luck so far – no security see) then HMRC, employers or other suppliers can trigger the administration.

And once the club is in admin, Ashley owns everything except Ibrox.
(And Ibrox is an encumbered asset.)
Any restart will be with his say so! And in his gift alone.
EGM was the stupidest move since Craig Whyte was let in the door. And there have been plenty of them!

    • You wish? Interesting insight into your thought processes. Think I prefer to trust the business acumen of the gentlemen who now run Rangers. Unless of course you can substantiate any of the above. Another opinion, I suspect, based distasteful emotions. Still, we are all free to express our views.

    • Word in the city of London is that ISDX wont touch the shares so long as Dave King is involved.
Is that good enough for you?
Still… if YOU trust the business acumen of the men who now run Rangers, what does it matter that the rest of the financial systems thinks that they are… shall we say … rather less deserving of such blind faith.
Wake up and smell the coffee bears! This is the same bunch that were running the show under Murray. And this time they don't have ANY access to the soft loans that kept them afloat until the bank woke up and turned off the tap.

Or do you prefer to wait for the Daily Record to catch up with the rest of the world?

Because I think you will find that 'the above' is about to be 'substantiated' by events.
Is it 8-10 days until April payroll is due? As things stand, the money is not there for everyone to get what they expect.
      More Emergency loans at best.
      Administration very likely.
Hard to see a way out of this.
… but looking for one would be a start.
The EGM vote was without doubt the stupidest thing this club has done since letting Craig Whyte accross the threshhold.

  12. Shona don't worry he is getting probed Green White ,along with the others they will all get what they deserve ,Jail time lol.

    • I would wholeheartedly agree that regarding Jorg Albertz take on the Shotts Bon Accord Ms Macnickson you put them in your handbag and meet me in the carpark and I give you a howitzer.

  13. Fitbaw strips are for fitbaw players and weans.

Blokes on a 5 a side pitch at a push…..they need to be fuckin good mind. Nothing worse than a fat middle aged geezer wobblin' aboot like a subuteo version of the Michelen man wi his teams strip on. Unless its a Selik tap (which it usually is), that just minds me of John Hartson.

Wummin wae strips on is another no no. Too skanky………..unless they're at the match and fitter than a butcher's dug.

    harsh but fair 🙂
