Kenny Miller: “I want to stay at Premiership Rangers”

Rangers striker Kenny Miller has
admitted he wants a new deal, but has confirmed talks have not begun regarding
drafting one up, and his focus is firmly on promotion.
On his desire to stay, he said:

“This is a club I’ve spent a lot of time at
throughout my career and I absolutely love the place, which is why I wanted to
come back. To get us back to the Premiership would be huge and everyone is
focused on that. I’m not really worried or thinking about the contract
situation too much because a big part of it will come down to whether or not
we’re successful.”
Unlike Kris Boyd’s rather defeatist stance a few months ago, castigating his own inability to perform,
Miller’s position has slightly more bravado without cockiness, and accepts that
the contract situation will deal with itself based on promotion or otherwise.
He went on:
“Everyone should put contracts and the likes
on hold because it’s more important we get back to where we belong. Everybody
has to get their head down and realise the most important thing is to get the
club back to the Premiership. After that, if we’ve done it, then there is
probably going to be a better chance of people getting contracts.”
For someone who has seen a bit of
a renaissance under new manager Stuart McCall, Miller’s comments seem fair and
to the point, as opposed to arrogant or submissive.
He also points out getting
through the playoffs will be far from a foregone conclusion.
“We know come the play-offs – whether it be
Hibs, Queen of the South, Falkirk or Raith Rovers – they are going to be tough
matches home and away and we’re going to have to be at the top of our game to
get through. We can still finish the season on a real high by getting back to
the Premiership, which is where we wanted to be when we started out on this
journey three years ago.”
However, Rangers’ convincing
dispatches of both Hibs and Raith Rovers recently suggest the Ibrox outfit have
the tools to at least earn a spot in the final.

  1. Not even good enough for the lower leagues against part time players, will struggle even more in the spfl, past you sell by date Kenny, get your coaching badges, help the youth players.

    • Agreed, Like Jig he lost most of his pace and just looked slow. That was his main thing getting in first. We need less older high wage earners and more youth prospects. We should be shopping from the championship taking the best of this division up with us. Safe from relegation next season and UEFA spot the following season. Anything more than this is a bonus, I like the player and think he has been a servant but time to move on now methinks.

  2. Yep, We would be going backwards signing Kenny,,After this season, we will be building a brand new team who have to be fit, athletic, skillful, dedicated, committed and have passion to work hard in every single game in the beautiful blue jersey,,, Your none of these Kenny,, so take the money you have defrauded from our financially hit Club and beat it,,and take that Boyd, Black, Aird, McCulloch and all the other wage grabbing parasites and feck off. New deal???, Your having a laugh son!!!

  3. To be fair, Kenny coming back would have been a masterstroke, if it had come off. It hasn't, although worked better than signing Boyd. Miller has tried, but as others have mentioned, he has lost some pace which was one of his main assets.

  4. Aye righto kenny. I want to come in fae work every Friday to Holly Willoughby dangling ower my couch wi 2 cold beers & wearing only a fuckin negligee……

    Get a grip son.

  5. Give him respect, By sounds of it Kenny is focused on gaining promotion, In last few weeks he's put some serious amount of effort in and its not gone unseen, So well done for that.

If promotion is gained, Then another year wouldn't do him any harm, but I do agree he should get his coaching badge!!!

    • Respect?!?! We've been giving him around £40k a month for fuckall in return.

Effort?!?!?! That's a bloody given and not to be commended.

He should get chased. End of.
