David Templeton: “Ally ruined me”

28

David Templeton has put his head
on the chopping board by being the first Rangers football personnel to admit
what no other has been brave enough to do, and castigate the disgusting
management of Ally McCoist.
Arguably the worst manager in
Rangers’ history, McCoist was beyond a disaster as coach, and Templeton, who
has looked a different player under new boss Stuart McCall, was absolutely
damning in his criticism of the previous regime:

“I don’t think we were being coached the right way. We weren’t going
into games working on the stuff we should have been working on. Going into
games knowing what you have to do definitely helps and that showed in the Hibs
game two weeks ago. We changed the formation and shut out their midfield, their
most creative part. That showed with the result. It’s not that it’s better
coaching. Every coach has a different style, it’s just the way they were going.
We needed to work on things. We were gifting too many goals and that was
through not working on the back four or back three. It’s not he’s a bad coach
but since the manager has come in we’ve worked on stuff we had to work on.”
Templeton has also stated, indirectly, that
McCoist essentially ruined three years of his career, and given that is a view
widely shared by Rangers fans, it is difficult to disagree with such a scathing
assessment.
“The new manager (McCall) has given me confidence. He’s telling me to
take the ball, attack and that it doesn’t matter how many times I lose it in
the final third but to make things happen. My time at Rangers has been
frustrating. The fans have definitely not seen the best of me.”
Templeton’s views simply cannot be argued with
and great credit to him for being so candid.

  1. Oh Really ? well i think up to now you have been a useless wee sh+t that gives the ball away endlessly , cuts IN 90% of the time and then BLADDERS the ball over the bar ? ….look at yourself son ,……. its easy to blame other people .YOU are a failure at the moment .

  2. He wasn't dire with Hearts and he isn't dire with McCall…..go figure. Goes for a number of others as well.

  3. Get a grip they have all been woeful and that cannot be a coincidence. How can players play at their premium when they aren't fit? The difference the last couple games been night and day. No one can possibly defend mccoist management. And still he takes our money. Turning a legend into a prick

  4. Templeton was/is potentially a game winner for us. His decision making is poor at times but he can be effective in the final third. One of the only players we have that can beat an opponent and disrupt defensively organised sides. His comments simply underline what the Rangers fans have suspected. McCoist totally lacking in almost all facets of football management. He was handed a golden opportunity and scorned it. Lazy, incompetent approach to the job and thought he could placate the supporters with a few well-placed sound bytes. Still he plunders the club, motivated by a misguided grudge that he deserves to reap the benefits of his undeserved contract. The name McCoist will live long in the memories of the Rangers support.
A greedmonger, parasite who should never be allowed anywhere near Ibrox. Whatever your future employment Mr McCoist, wherever you locate, the Rangers fans will remember. The Rangers board should reconsider his position, and inform the fans, in the spirit of openness and transparency, (remember the phrase) about the outcome of any negotiations.

    • Potential ?..fkn Potential ? so was Wylde !……doesnt mean he isnt sh+t . The boy should shut TF up ! and play , i am pssd off with these clowns playing like tubes , but its ALWAYS somebody elses fault ? ……………just shut TF up and play .that goes for the rest of them as well , in stead of coming up with CRAP excuses . If the trainig was gabage fine , PRIDE should have sen him through that …………..HE WAS JUNK .

  5. McCoist was a fkn disaster. I said from day one he would be naff and regrettably i was proven right. He always was a chancer, he reminded me of a used car salesman with his crap patter. Some of the Rangers support need to have a good look at themselves for backing this muppet for so long, you must take a portion of the blame. FTP

    • The great games and goals mean nothing now! He was well paid for his services and remember he turned rangers down twice before he eventually reluctantly joined. His attitude while in the management seat at our famous club has cost us severely. The contempt he held for a prized position few have ever held will stay with me forever. His legendary statues is null and void, he is a spiv just like the others. No excuses for this twat. SON.

    • iv watched the rangers for over 60 years now and he was and still is a rangers great,,,grow up son,,and get behind the team now,, watp

    • many are getting behind the team. your maturity seemingly does not extend to tolerance of other peoples opinions. get wise pop!

  6. all these comments about ally good or bad should be put to bed now,, let the board deal with him and lets all get behind rangers and get them where they should be,,watp.

    • Problem is, the board are not dealing with him. Or if they are, they are not keeping the fans informed. Probably still a significant number of former season ticket holders who are sickened by McCoist pocketing their hard earned money.

  7. Righto David. We can expect a cheque back for your undeserved wages then.

Shut yer whinging gub and get yer act together. Start with the basics, movement, ball control, passing……and drop the fancy turns and flicks when they're not required.

  8. We man can be up and down but I think he can be a good player for us given the opportunity to actually get a run of games under his belt and proper coaching. Coisty just never looked like he could change a game at any time. A don't think any of the players had any respect for him in the end and to be honest who could blame them. He could have had Ronaldo and messi and wouldn't have played them coz they play football not just long to ball to Daly.

  9. Templeton has been a major disappointment since he arrived on our doorstep…..I was delighted when we signed him and thought he was a match winner….sadly under the new management regime and I know its only one game but he was still crap….easy to blame others but when he looks in the mirror he will seethe culprit for his poor form

  10. THE OLD BOARD WILL B PISSIN THEMSELVES LAFFIN AT US?
THEY'LL B SAYING THEY GOT RID OF US NOW EVERYONE ELSE IS GETTIN IT FROM MC'COIST 2 MURRAY & KING!

THAT WEE BASTARD WHYTE'S GETTIN AFF LIGHTLY CONSIDERING HE STARTED THE BAW ROLLIN.

  11. Never heard a dickie from David when Coisty was in the hotseat. Temps get a grip and do a shift. All I see is someone who pleases himself when and how hard he works.

  12. Think it started before Whyte, others continued and it is unfortunately still going on, McCoist still picking up a wage (who wouldn't in his situation), we only have two saviours now, one apparently in place (King) and one with all the cards (Ashley). Neither have Rangers at heart – watch what happens, we will not believe what will come out but in truth both are working together to feather their own pockets by fleecing the support which will be obliterated when they are finished!

  13. SDFM started the ball rolling by selling the club to a big boy he didn't know??
He is getting off lightly! Rename Murray Park! Not a priority but would be quite satisfying.

  14. Have attended every match since the clowns left, purchased 4-game package and will buy season ticket for next season. I'm sure that I'll be joined by many loyal fans. Am not happy that McCoist (and dependents) will benefit from that revenue. He shows total disdain for the supporters and the club. Should be dismissed for gross incompetence. It was his decision to take the cowardly option. Board please take note.

  15. Nobody was complaing when S.D.M. was unfurling the 9 flags & almost taking us to a champions league final, not 2 mention
Manchester. which contributed 2 us still being the most successful club in Scotland .
the guy gave us 20 years give him some credit. I always said if Murray chucked it we were in trouble, but even I could not have foreseen what was gony happened !
