Boyd: “McCall won’t make any difference to us”

Kris Boyd has claimed Rangers’ new manager Stuart McCall is
essentially powerless and will make no difference to the side’s fortunes.
In a controversial interview, Boyd remarked that Jose
Mourinho himself could not make this Rangers side successful and that only the
players can make it better.
“We’re now on our third manager and it gets to the stage where you have
to ask questions of the players, it doesn’t matter if you were to go and bring
in Jose Mourinho – he would still have the same players to deal with.”

Boyd has been praised for brutally honest assessments of his own
failure to succeed at Ibrox second time around rather than passing the buck
elsewhere, but this latest diatribe is sure to raise eyebrows from all
connected with Rangers, not least McCall himself.
Boyd continued:
“Sometimes it can help when a new manager arrives and is looking at it
from a different angle – a fresh eye. But, ultimately, it’s the same players
going out on the pitch and if we’re being brutally honest, it’s us who need to
get a grip.”
If Boyd is trying to lift pressure from McCall it is a noble
way of doing so, but it does also potentially send out a disquieting message that he
has no faith in the manager to instil anything new in the players.

  1. There is nothing honest or noble in any of his comments and if this indeed is how he feels, it is an accurate summary of this bunch of overpaid and under performing Rangers players. Frankly most of the current crop are a disgrace. None of them can cope against mainly part time opponents. They are not fit to wear our team colours. They, together with ex manager Ally are a total money drain on our club and in every this respect at least are no better than the rotten. board who have now departed. As for our team leader Lee. For God sake do us a favour and shut it!

  2. It is something sadly we have known for a long time, set up by previous management come and spend your last days on a decent salary, unfortunately which includes over 50% of the team, we all could write to were Blue in the Face over this dreadful shambles of a team, whoever McCall has in mind for loan he needs to get going quick , if not its build on youth and stay another season

  3. The players are a bunch of non triers who are only there to earn easy money I wouldnt let Boyd Miller Daly McCulloch Moshni Foster Hutton Black etc any where near the team We have Callum Gallagher and Ryan Hardie two strikers with pace who are banging in the goals for the reserves yet we still persist in playing the slowest and oldest strikers in Scottish football

    • Totally agree, about time Boyd and Miller were binned and Gallagher and Hardie given a crack…. Their goal ratio for games played in the senior team would probably shame all the prima donnas

    • Strange, they were all great when they signed, yet while some are abit older they were signed, younger players sold and still wage contracts for the players and manager were never questioned. Just hope the latest white night (King) is not another Murray or Whyte or Green in another guise, time will tell, oops forgot Ashley, who in fairness has not really done anything other than lend money to a basket case, provide players to help an inept bunch of money grabbing unmotivated losers or is he also as bad as the aforementioned?

  4. I thought a lot about this before posting, and my comment is that we're in bad shape and this does nothing to help us. I wish he'd just zip it. It's worse than negative

    • Totally agree! Sick of hearing utter crap from most of our players especially Boyd, Miller, McCulloch, Law and others. Shut up guys. You have failed to do your talking on the pitch. We fans are tired of reading your excuses. So Zip it!

    • Id go with a 4-2-3-1 GK.Bell RB.Aird CB.McGregor CB.Zalukus LB.Wallace CM.McCulloch CM.Crawford ACM.Law ALM.Walsh ARM.Shields ST.Gallagher

  5. Moderator, please this article away off the site. Its the most depressing thing I've ever read and coming from that useless slabba makes it the worst ever on this site.

    • Naw he's been deid aboot 700 years so he'll smell nearly as bad as you ya lice infested sp*nk ridden mug

  6. Gallagher has to start tonight. Hardie on the bench. Sinnamon must start at right back and Murdoch re-instated. Team tonight: Bell. Sinnamon. Zaliukus. McGregor. Wallace. Murdoch. Law. Walsh. Shiels. Templeton. Gallagher.

  7. can he recall all our loanees so he can get a closer look and see what hes got to work with.1 or 2 could improve this shower.they would be far hungrier and desprate to show mccall they should be at ibrox and no raith or whatever.boyd didnt say he wont make a difference btw.hes had a nightmare this season but any striker would struggle with the lack of service our forwards are getting.least we aint shoutin sack the board and arguing about football.we seem to have forgoten what that is.anyway the whole team sucks.bit shit to single out 1 or 2 when from ally down theyre all responsable imho.

  8. Forget Chris Graham, Whyte, Green, Ahmed, Mather, Somers, the Easdales, Superally. McDumble, Durrant, Greig. If you boil it down to a single cause, obvious it is SDFM. Round of applause for King Murray and Gooligan for trying to right the wrongs they done us in the past but where is Manky Minty when we need him, who caused the whole problem in the first place. Its him we should sue.

  9. Still waiting on the NOMAD so we can sell our shares. Let's hope they come through so as they can keep Dave King focused on the straight and narrow (which I dare say won't be straightforward).

  10. I'm beginning to wonder if King and the 3 Bears actually have a plan.

Other than see off the Ashley board and bin KMD, a no brainer, there is no apparent transparency on how the new board will take the club forward, especially and most importantly on the financial side.
We were promised honesty, integrity and transparency but the minute King and Co take control he starts to talk about delisting which flies in the face of the promises made.
They had months to plan ahead prior to the EGM, the major announcements should all have been made in a couple of days. Ok, there may be a couple of booby traps left by the previous board but surely this wouldn't be any great surprise.
One minute King talks about paying back the 10m Ash loan, then mibbe not. In the next breath he's talking about the levels of debt that there when he was previously on the board and he doesn't see a 15m or 20m debt as a problem.
Is he kidding. No Nomad, delisting, no share issue……the investment is all going to have to come from high net worth individuals, with what in return for security?
Are the 3 Bears aware of the requirement for them to dig deep into their own pockets to fund the club going forward, bearing in mind that following the season ticket boycott this year's loss is going to be north of 12m. King's talking about quadrupling the wage bill to compete with Celtic….that's another 25m that he has to find. None of this investment will ever generate a return, it will just be money down the drain without CL football.
And that won't be before season 2017/18 at the very earliest, given the present situation with another season in the Championship likely, very unlikely to win one of the major cups, and with only 1 place available to Scottish teams for CL qualifiers they will need to knock Celtic from their perch in the first season back……so scrub 2017/18, it will be 18/19 or 19/20 if at all.
In the meantime Celtic just need to qualify, not given I know, to the league stages proper to earn a minimum of 25m in one year with the new BT deal in place.
After all that's gone before with people lining up to bleed the club dry it was imperative that King and Co put down a marker and their cash clearly outlining their, short, medium and long term plans.
This has not happened, shows no sign of happening and just adds further doubt as to the direction the club's heading in.
As far as we know at the moment there has been no investment from the new board and the club is running on fumes from whatever was left in the bank from Ashley.

    • I agree with you 100% except for one thing. They didn't see Ashley off the board. All they did was vote those two off the board. As Murray stated ten days ago in an interview, Ashley is still entitled to his seats.

    • Go into google and input philmacg – take the first site suggested and you will find all the answers you need (and don't get anywhere else).

    • You had me reaching for my box of Sctties there and then I thought, its SDFM did this to us and its him who should be stumping up (no pun intended).

    • agree with most but we gotta give them more than 2 weeks surely.if in the same sitch in 4 wks fair enuff 100%

  11. Rangers won't get promotion this year. To get through the Playoffs they would have to play 4 (maybe 6) ties at the end of a hard, gruelling season . The younger players don't have the experience and the older players don't have the Legs !

  12. If we don't beat Alloa, my post will be: After Chris Graham humbling us (and hopefully the police will put him beyond anyone's reach so that neither he nor we get any repercussions), that is the end. I will not take any more of this shytemire. From now on my team is Kilmarnock, true blue colours and kindred spirit supporters down there. In saying I won't be back its because I see no chance of the Rangers surviving, in fact more and more of us each day say that in truth we never did. Come on you Gers, keep your support onside!

  13. OMG NO!!!! After the run of bad decisions and disastrour appointments we now hear that we get a whisky sodden staggerin dopeheed to head up the scouting operation. BEYOND BELIEF

  14. Returning to the original subject , away from all this other guff .Boyd is right Mourinho would make no difference to him.He still would be lazy and overweight .The difference is Mourinho would drop him , never to be seen again , the quicker McCall comes to the same conclusion the better .Even playing shit , every game he misses at least one clear cut chance .Enjoy your proclamations Kris , your days as a Rangers player will be over for ever at the end of the season.

  15. Fucking sack them all. Not performing and not doing their job. Grossmisfuckingconduct. Now that would be a ballsy move by King and one move the fans couldn't argue with or disagree that's what those imposters deserve. What a statement that would be.

    Go on King Dave

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

    😤

    • That would be Peter CEO of the champions you're talking about and why doesn't he try to protect us from the artless dodger David. I think "iniquitous" would be a more appropriate term for Dodgy Dave Mark 2 although the inequitable side of the equation always ends up being the support wherever Squint is concerned. If you'd known how to do a cut and paste you would have escaped looking like the moron you are. HH

  16. I was going to do a question about what on earth King was up to – not a word – and then I happened to see on another blog a report that that he has admitted he is still not fixed with the South African Tax who will jump on him if they see him loaning money to us.Anyone know if this is true or a malicious fabrication?
