The Murty mistake

The Murty mistake

In this bright and exciting era of Steven Gerrard, your resident grumps Ibrox Noise have enjoyed being a lot more positive. Players linked, dross likely to be punted, and the hopes of us all that Stevie G will turn out to be more Graeme Souness than John Barnes.

However, we’ve held off discussion of a developing story purely on the basis of awaiting to see exactly what manifested, before drawing any conclusion.

In simple terms, the restoration of our former manager to youth coach.

Regulars to the site will know we are not fans of this individual – we were strongly opposed to his appointment, briefly let up as we gubbed Ayr and Falkirk, but when it finally came crashing down around us, then got worse than we ever feared, we couldn’t drive him out of Govan fast enough.

The latest is of course that he’s back in his former role, or will be imminently, and to say we are appalled at this is an understatement to put it mildly.

This man has no place at Ibrox or Auchenhowie. We are on record as saying that.

Youth results have improved under Billy Kirkwood, and that is as critical a starting point as we can muster. To revert back to a man Mark Warburton misguidedly brought to Ibrox is a stunningly poor move which we cannot abide.

Let’s not forget, this is a manager who, at Parkhead last season, said:

“The atmosphere here is second to none.”

Utterly unacceptable comment for any Rangers employee to make, never mind the manager.

There was also the defence of Cedric Kipre’s assault which has utterly derailed Ryan Jack’s career – the midfielder lost the rest of last season yet his manager defended his opponent.

This is not the right man to have any position of authority within Rangers, and if Steven Gerrard sanctioned this appointment, we can only assume he’s done so utterly misguidedly.

As caretaker he did ok – we cut him slack, plenty of it, given he was reluctantly in the role in the first place. But once willing manager that slack was gone.

Then of course the dreadful Hampden incident which saw Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace suspended and fined for speaking their minds.

And we’ve not even mentioned:

His pride at getting Celtic for his testimonial;

“It is a great honour for me for Celtic to come and play in this match. With my dad being a life-long fan, the club has always featured very strongly in our family. It’s a dream to get them down here and I’m sure the fans will love seeing one of the biggest clubs in Britain here.”

This didn’t actually happen in the end, and reports are he faced a Reading select team but nevertheless it doesn’t change what he said.

And the fact a tonne of Celtic men have defended him in the press, while few of a Rangers persuasion have done likewise.

We could go on, and on.

He shouldn’t be at Ibrox in any capacity. His race has run, and it is a truly shocking call to have him back.

  1. Murty and his family are all Celtic fans through and through. Murty came 3rd in the league and totally embarrassed us in the old firm games!!! He is a Celtic mole,,look how all the Celtic players, ex players and fan came out to support him, yet we take him back?
What are Rangers thinking about!!! Murty wont want our kids to be successful, he will sabotage our kids. And what happens if Gerrard flunks at Ibrox,,does that mean Murty will step up and take the managers reigns again!!! F. Right Off!!
He should have never been offered to return, WHY?? How can our development squad take him seriously after his shambles of season.
As for Kenny Miller and Wallace, they challenged Murty because they probably saw what I did when we lay down against Celtic, at least miller/wallace showed fight for our club, when Murty was giving his family a good Celtic day out in the cup semi final and their title winning day!!! Murty, his family and Celtic fans must be laughing their heads off at us!! How stupid are our board for taking him back!!!

    Get Murty TF!!!

  2. THE CLOWNS FROM OUR OWN SUPPORT ARE OVER THE MOON AT HIM COMING BACK, ITS ALL YOU READ ON FACEBOOK AND TWITTER, YOU LIKE I AND THE DECENT NORMAL GERS FANS SAW THROUGH THE PIECE OF SHIT MONTHS AGO AND WANTED RID AND NOW THIS WAGE THIEF IS BACK, I WOULDNT HAVE THAT STAIN NEAR RANGERS IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM EVER AND I CERTAINLY DONT THINK IT WAS SG'S DECISION EITHER, OUR UNDER 21'S WILL GO BACK YEARS DUE TO THIS PRICK

  3. 100% agree he should be punted asap..the guy has no affiliation with us at all..his spineless management was exposed for what it is …not at our level. Millar and Wallace vindicated for me . I hope SG tells him to go

  4. Don’t understand why he’s being aloud back he was sacked for being useless and now every Rangers fan knows his connections with the unwashed surely it is a bigger mistake bringing him back now than his original temporary appointment knowing all that has gone before him i for one do not welcome this appointment and hopefully he will be gone soon 🇬🇧🇬🇧

  5. Absolute Disgrace!
100% Agree with you GersJimbo and BlueBear
Why you think we never saw Barjonas or A.Wilson get a game? 🤔

  6. this guy was 3 points from a title winning run not that long ago and IN made him out to be the mutts nuts, the team is poor throughout and that wont change without massive investment no matter who the manager is, wish fans would wake up to this, what happened to torres, skirtle? even the young lad Wilson is not certain now Hull are eyeing him up]

  7. He did step up when he probably didn't really want to. In similar circumstances I'd say Sacking would be harsh, however, we gave him a fantastic platform as a manager,he could probably get offers else where (we owe him nothing). But he spectacularly lost the dressing room, and by all accounts fell out with Jimmy Nicholl. That suggests a level of arrogance which he had nothing to back up with. I don't see how younger players at the club could now take him seriously, teenagers are savage if they think someone is weak, i can guarantee he'll be gone by the end of the year. Also, I've yet to see any of his ex celtic pals come out and say what a great thing we've done by giving him his old job back, but that doesn't go with Rangers bad/shambles narrative that the media are trying to sell

  8. GIVE HIM A JOB WITH THE SPL ALANG WAY THE REST OF THEM
I NEVER KNEW HOW DEEP HE FEELS FOR SEPTIC UNACCEPTABLE FOR HIM TO CONTINUE

    LETS GO WATP 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

  9. ABSOLUTE DISGRACE. Passing his LOSER WAYS on to our talented youth> I am one not happy bunny. Bad management.

  10. So, it is Murty to blame, not any of the board for previous managerial appointments, then it is his fault for being asked to try his best after attempts to sign others failed, now we have a new hero, who has not managed one game and was either asked or not asked or perhaps has no say at all on M, well he is just learning, it might be good to have the last manager to draw experience from, now we are getting somewhere, nope, this has Mr K all over it, he of course will confirm in due course, but who is the real enemy, a man who's family support them (it happens) or one who just wants all the money he has put in back, with profit and no real ability or ambition to run a club, sorry not true, he is ruining us, Murty was an example, as for Mr G, we will have to wait and see, but the real issue here is Mr K not Murty J
