Rangers come back in for previously failed target – reports

Following January’s debacle surrounding Kilmarnock’s Northern Irish winger Jordan Jones, sources claim the attacker is back on Rangers’ radar.

Manager Steven Gerrard has not been idle in the transfer market, securing six players already, and while he has been linked with a number of attackers, Jones would represent the resurrection of a deal long thought forgotten.

Rangers reportedly offered around £300,000 in January for his services, which was laughed off rather theatrically by both manager Steve Clarke and striker Kris Boyd, but it is thought a more significant bid in the region of £600K+ would undeniably be enough to prise him from Rugby Park.

For his part, the flanker admitted the speculation in the window was a huge distraction and took him off his game for a while, but in not so many words indirectly admitted he was interested too.

Who wouldn’t be. It’s Rangers.

Nevertheless, Jones, 23, would be a valuable addition and a very decent ‘replacement’ for the departed Michael O’Halloran (albeit how much of a replacement you can be for a guy who didn’t play is anyone’s guess) – Rangers have a fair bit of strength on that left side now with Jamie Murphy and Scott Arfield, but Jones certainly wouldn’t be an unwelcome addition too.

We’ll see if Stevie Ger pursues this one with gusto.

  1. You have to set your standards higher if you want us to win the league, Ibrox Noise!
Jordan Jones is no better that O'halloran!
If Rangers keep buying average players like him, then we will come 3rd in the league for 3 years in a row.
Player quality wise, pound for pound,,, thus far,,, Celtic still have the better team by far,, and Jordan Jones will not give us the quality need to overtake them!!

  2. Would he get a game ahead of Murphy, Arfield and Middleton? I like him, but we have more cover for left wing than anywhere else.

  3. As GersJimbo said we need far far better than him if we have any chance at all to win the league and definitely not better than anything we have, would just be a bench warmer

  4. Hope this doesnt Happen!, He's Pish
He couldnt lace Arfields Boots! 😂⚽💙

    Plus we have enough Wingers

    RW – Candeias/Atakayi
    LW – Murphy/Arfield/Middleton

  5. Defenders at every level are frightened by direct running and blistering pace. That boy has that. We don’t have that threat. He’ll get better in our squad. £6-700k ? Get him in.

    • I think your spot on DV… he ran the dhims defence ragged last year… something our forwards never managed.

  6. I don't think that tarrier should be mentioned again on here.
You know O'H******n.As for the boy Jones we don't need him but if less than 500 why not?

  7. Changing the subject, totally. Anyone else getting concerned of rumours of the "scumbag" David Murray, trying to weasel his way back into the club?? Why no story on the truth of this story, fellas? Anyone know what's going on please?

  8. Personally if he wants to invest money in the club I'd take it… he knows he owes us big time, he knows he made a horrendous choice in selling to that wee ****. but he was faced with a no win situation for his business.
