Player of the month winner eager to sign on at Ibrox

Rangers’ striking options have been an issue of slight contention in recent times. While star striker Alfredo Morelos was the toast of fans, his horror miss against Celtic followed up by a lesser but still disappointing open goal flaff against Kilmarnock has reduced his stock somewhat, while Jason Cummings is yet to receive a real run in the team, despite impressing in what little time he has had.

Meanwhile, the bench hosts dismal flop Eduardo Herrera, himself a target for Mexicans Chivas, and veteran Kenny Miller who has found himself a fringe player since returning from injury.

One player who has never been given anything like a fair chance up front is 20-year old Ryan Hardie, currently on loan at Livie. His deal at Ibrox expires in June and he has admitted his time in Govan has not really got going and he may have to look elsewhere come the summer in order to obtain first team football regularly.

In fairness, the forward has done rather well at Livie, managing an excellent five goals in eight appearances, and a POTM award, and this has led to a number of fans eager for Rangers to make a bigger use of him.

The player himself is open to staying, but far from rules out leaving.

He said:

“I’m still looking to improve but I’m concentrating more on my game, which is getting in behind and scoring goals. The other side of the game is linking up and bringing others in to play. It gives you a lot more confidence in yourself that you can go and do what you think is right and the manager is 100 percent behind you. It’s great and I’m loving it here as well. This is the last few months of my deal so hopefully coming here I can either prove myself to get another contract at Rangers or it opens other options, so I just need to see what happens. There’s things going on behind the scenes but I just concentrate on doing what I’m doing at the minute.”

His comment about ‘the manager is 100% behind you’ does seem to be a subtle attack on a succession of Rangers bosses who never gave him a sniff at all, and while he would clearly love to be a Rangers striker, there is no sign Graeme Murty is interested in reversing the trend which saw him depart on loan for the latest time.

Whether he is good enough is quite another question; but Rangers’ options in that department outwith Cummings and Morelos are absolutely horrific and frankly they need all the quality they can get.

Plus he cant be any Worse than
    Dodoo, Herrera etc

    • Yep totally agree… Hardie will get shafted by Rangers they’ll go for McBurnie and Cummings next season.. They fact he was sent out on loan for last 6 mth says it all.. Hardie will do better with another Club I just wish it was Rangers

  2. Hardie is a proven goal scorer. Unlike herera who is simply dire. And what's going on with O'Halloran. Questions that murty needs to answer to the ibrox faithful
