Rangers manager Graeme Murty has not had his problems to seek of late. With two poor losses in a row, the 43 year old finds himself under the first pressure he’s truly experienced since getting the gig semi permanently.
It had definitely begun following the Celtic loss, but after Kilmarnock did a number on us too it’s become substantial and discontent has definitely flown through the fanbase of late.
Which is why the international break could literally not have come at a better time for Murty.
Another difficult match awaits for Rangers come the 31st when the Ibrox men travel to Fir Park to face yet another team in good form. Steve Robinson’s Motherwell got what Rangers couldn’t against Celtic (just like Killie) and managed a point.
Indeed, the only teams to beat them this calendar year are Kilmarnock and Hibs, so technically on that front they’re exceeding Rangers.
The tail end of last year Motherwell were struggling, but Robinson has turned it back round to how it was up till and including the cup semi win over Rangers, and now Murty faces yet another big test.
So an international break for Rangers has come at the perfect time. A chance to regroup and galvanise the troops. Work more on training. Get things refreshed. An extra ten days to plan for Robinson, albeit with no Murphy, Alves, Hodson, John or Cummings at Auchenhowie.
Murty needed some time to lick his wounds and come up with something different – a chance to revisit the squad and properly appraise the situation.
In all fairness Rangers’ away record this season is pretty impressive to say the least, so Murty will expect good things come the visit to Motherwell, but nevertheless with confidence taking a dent recently Murty must concoct a plan to overcome the Steelmen.
Graham Dorrans bailed us out last time – one deflected goal and a penalty – on the day the hosts were the better team, and Murty must find a way of winning far more comfortably.

Normally I'd want to get straight back into action to right the wrongs.
But I have to agree. This break might be what Murty needs to reflect on the last two results. To compare what was going so well before them and realise how he must go about training, set up tactically, and motivate the players.
I'm hoping he finds the answers to get us back winning and gearing up, full of confidence, for the league and cup run ins
The end of season must still seem a long way to go for Murty the Top 6 split means more pressure .I think he knows he will be leaving at the end of the season .As far as the games coming up they will all be a good time to try other formations like 2 up front for a start …Morelos and Cummings even Miller and Cummings ..we need to score goals and kill teams off ! The Semi will also need superior attitude and winning mentality which seems scarce in the current squad apart from a couple perhaps…Docherty Cadellas Cummings ..The Rotten Mob will not fancy the Semi the pressure is on them to get that elusive btb treble..For us it's a chance for the new manager to evaluate the team for next season…who knows we may even pull off a result
We seem to go round in circles, first Ped, what a capture, then Warburton, he knows how to build a young team then Murty, why was he not appointed sooner. Now yet again "he knows he will be leaving" which is great if you have a brilliant chairman and board all focused on building a team, but their heads are in a pile of debt ridden issues. Murty is not the issue, but he is a scapegoat!!!
